Overview

Whitehall Naz is looking for a Youth Pastor/Youth Leader. We are offering this position as part-time, seeking a qualified individual who is bi-vocational. Compensation will be shared with qualified candidates.

The Student Pastor is responsible for developing and leading the ministry of our 6th through 12th grade students at Whitehall Naz. This position will include Sunday morning and evening ministry, Wednesday evening ministry, as well as other local church and District events. 

Ministry Team: The Student Pastor is a member of the Ministry Team at Whitehall Naz, ministering in cooperation with the preschool, kids, young adult, and adult pastors and leaders of the church under the direct supervision of the Lead Pastor.

Job Description/ Responsibilities:

– Work with the Ministry Team to establish the vision for our Student ministry and develop a plan to carry it out.
– Develop and lead ministry programs according to the vision and purpose of the student ministry.
– Work together with Ministry Team & CLC (Church Leadership Committee/Board) to develop, schedule, and carry out outreach ministry, activities, and events such as retreats & camps (evangelism).
– Plan spiritual growth ministry, activities, and events that include opportunities for students to worship, fellowship with each other, learn Biblical truths, and apply them to their lives (spiritual growth).
– Plan activities or events to develop students who desire to serve others, impacting them with the love of Christ (student leadership & missions).
– In cooperation with the Social Media Director, develop and implement a strategy for social media that is informative, inspiring, responsive, and responsible. Look for opportunities to engage teens by using technology for ministry.
– Recruit, train, and mentor adult volunteer leaders to help carry out the ministry.
– Meet regularly with volunteers and staff. Pouring into volunteer team with consistent and relevant training to equip for ministry.
– Build and maintain relationships with students, both churched and unchurched.
– Equip students to consistently live out their faith in their relationships and all their activities.
– Build and maintain quality relationships with parents and create avenues of consistent contact with parents (regular e-newsletters, semi-annual parent meetings, Bible studies focused on family needs, etc.). Become aware of the needs of the parents and how to address those needs effectively. Assist parents as the primary faith trainers of their students.
– Network with other student pastors & leaders in the community and District. Meeting regularly with other youth pastors & leaders for encouragement and sharing ideas praying for the community, schools, and churches. 
– Work with the Lead Pastor and Finance Committee to set and oversee the youth ministry budget which reflects the values, vision, and purpose of youth ministry.
– Be diligent with financial resources, following the budget that is set for the ministry.
– Provide accurate accounting of each student ministry event.
– Attend regular church staff and monthly CLC meetings.
– Provide updates to the Lead Pastor on goals, accomplishments, prayers, and praises. Carry out other duties that will be assigned by the Lead pastor.
– Attend SCO District trainings and CEL (Coaching for Effective Leadership) trainings (as available)
– Attend District Events with Youth such as NMI/NYI Convention, BLAST, Summer Camp, Camp Meeting, and Winter Retreat

Schedule: This is a part-time position. Ministers will be available Sundays, Wednesday evenings, plus other times and days as is necessary for the the ministry.

Salary: will be based on experience, education, and other ministry-related training or skillset. Will be shared with qualified candidates. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A disciple of Christ.
  • A clear calling to student ministry.
  • Engaging personality with a passion for student ministry and leaders.
  • Organizational and leadership skills, administrative skills, and strong self-starter initiative.
  • A team player and team builder who focuses on the good of the entire organization.
  • A track record of student discipleship and ability to bring an atmosphere of fun.
  • Willingness to align with the doctrines and values of the Church of the Nazarene, as well as willingness to pursue District Licensing.

Education
A degree in a relative field is preferred, though not required.

Experience
2+ years of relative student ministry experience preferred, though not required
