Job Title:  Associate Pastor to Families/Worship Pastor

Category:  Salary Full-time (40 hours weekly; minimum of 20 in-office hours weekly)

Supervisor:  Lead Pastor

Job Purpose:

The Associate Pastor to Families/Worship Pastor (hereafter “Associate Pastor”) will work closely with the Lead Pastor to provide opportunities for spiritual growth for the congregation and outreach opportunities in the local community. The Associate Pastor will partner with church leadership, staff, and volunteers to develop and implement the strategies necessary to communicate and promote our ministries clearly and effectively.

The Associate Pastor is responsible for the oversight, design, management, and leadership in the ministering to designated groups within the ministry, specifically assisting the directors/pastors of children’s ministries, youth ministries, and college ministries. They are expected to coordinate with parents, volunteers, the Lead Pastor, and other pastoral associates in outreach to the local community and effective discipleship of the Park Lane Church of the Nazarene (PLC) congregation.

The Associate Pastor will work with PLC’s praise team in organizing the church’s music ministry, creating an atmosphere of worship during services and special events.

  • Is a gifted and energetic team-builder who can engage and connect volunteers in using their gifts to participate in the ministry of PLC.
  • Is a professional who is highly pro-active and comfortable managing multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities and supervising high-volume production projects.
  • Has the ability, experience, and passion to lead the congregation in authentic worship: Understanding the difference between spirit-led worship and a musical performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee designated groups within the ministry, specifically assisting the directors and/or pastors of children’s ministry, youth ministry, and college ministry.
  • Lead various bible studies and small group discussions.
  • Candidates with a calling to preach will have opportunities periodically to do so.
  • Help manage and plan various church events and community outreach programs.
  • Assist in all church services and ceremonies, weddings, funerals, and baptisms.
  • Provide counsel for members of the church.
  • Attend, participate, and coordinate inter-church programs, especially fellowships and missions.
  • Aid with the daily operations and productions of the church.
  • Assist the Lead Pastor with visiting members or prospective members of the church.
  • Work with the Lead Pastor to encourage a positive relationship with all the schools and businesses in the local community.
  • Assist the Lead Pastor with visitor follow-ups and contact.
  • Assist the Lead Pastor to research, locate, and validate potential outreach programs and projects that the church might want to engage actively and participate in.
  • Help lead the praise team for church services by selecting songs and conducting regular rehearsals.
  • Screen new and prospective music.
  • Prepare and make reports requested by the Lead Pastor or District Superintendent.
  • Represent the church in the district and other places as desired, needed, or requested.
  • Monitor the illegal copying and streaming of music.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Perform additional duties and assume responsibility as assigned by the Lead Pastor.

Qualifications:

  • Is ordained in the Church of the Nazarene or in the process of ordination.
  • A degree in theology/religious studies/youth or a related field, is preferred.
  • 3-5 years ministry experience as a Youth, Associate, and/or Worship Pastor, is preferred.
  • Avid technical know-how to facilitate avenues of the church’s social media.

Park Lane Church of the Nazarene is in Clarksville, TN, about an hour northwest of Nashville. Clarksville is the 5th largest city in Tennessee.

Park Lane Church is less than two miles from Ft. Campbell, which houses all branches of the military including the 101st Airborne. Clarksville continues to grow in population with new businesses and Nashville commuters increasing each year.
