Worship Pastor — Job Description – Full-Time
Position Summary
The Worship Pastor provides spiritual, pastoral, and musical leadership for the worship life of the church. This role exists to help the congregation glorify God through Christ-centered, biblically grounded, and Spirit-led worship. The Worship Pastor plans and leads weekly services, equips volunteers, collaborates with church staff, and helps cultivate a worship culture that supports the church’s mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Worship Planning & Leadership
·      Plan and lead weekly worship services in collaboration with the Lead Pastor and ministry staff.
·      Select songs, readings, and service elements that are biblically grounded and aligned with the church’s mission and teaching emphasis.
·      Lead congregational worship with authenticity, pastoral sensitivity, and musical excellence.
·      Help shape worship gatherings that invite participation, spiritual formation, and attentiveness to the Holy Spirit.
2. Team Development & Volunteer Leadership
·      Recruit, train, schedule, and shepherd worship team volunteers, including vocalists, instrumentalists, and production team members.
·      Cultivate a healthy team culture marked by spiritual maturity, humility, preparation, and unity.
·      Provide ongoing encouragement, mentoring, and skill development for team members.
·      Develop future leaders within worship and production ministries.
3. Rehearsal, Music, & Service Preparation
·      Organize and lead regular rehearsals that prepare teams spiritually and musically for worship services.
·      Arrange songs and service flow in ways that support congregational participation.
·      Ensure music, transitions, and service elements are prepared clearly and communicated well to the team.
·      Introduce songs and worship resources that serve the church’s theology, context, and discipleship vision.
4. Technology & Production Oversight
·      Oversee worship-related technology, including sound, slides, media, and livestream support as applicable.
·      Coordinate with volunteers and staff to ensure services are well prepared and technically supported.
·      Help maintain worship ministry equipment and recommend improvements as needed.
·      Support clear communication and planning for special services and events.
5. Administrative Responsibilities
·      Manage worship ministry schedules, service plans, and related administrative workflows in a timely and organized manner.
·      Maintain worship team communication, volunteer coordination, and planning resources for weekly services and special events.
·      Oversee worship ministry budgeting, purchasing requests, and recordkeeping in coordination with church policies and staff processes.
·      Ensure licenses, song files, planning materials, and ministry documentation are current, accessible, and well organized.
·      Assist other church ministries with administration and organization responsibilities as needed.
6. Pastoral & Churchwide Ministry Participation
·      Participate in the overall pastoral life of the church through prayer, discipleship, and collaboration with staff and ministry leaders.
·      Contribute to special services such as holidays, baptisms, and other churchwide gatherings.
·      Help integrate worship ministry into the broader mission and discipleship pathway of the church.
·      Provide pastoral presence and support for worship team members and the congregation as needed.
Secondary Responsibilities
·      Participate in staff meetings, ministry planning, and churchwide events.
·      Assist with occasional pastoral duties as needed.
·      Support other ministries during major seasons such as Easter and Christmas.
Qualifications
·      A growing relationship with Jesus and alignment with the church’s doctrine and mission.
·      Strong musical ability and experience leading congregational worship.
·      Ability to lead, recruit, and develop volunteers with humility and clarity.
·      Relational, approachable, and able to work collaboratively with staff and ministry teams.
·      Organized, dependable, and able to plan services, rehearsals, and ministry logistics effectively.
·      Familiarity with worship technology and production systems is preferred.
·      Ordained in the Church of the Nazarene, or willing to pursue ordination in the Church of the Nazarene.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $50,000–$60,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
