:: Overview of Worship Arts Leader ::

The Worship Arts Leader’s primary role and responsibility will be to oversee and lead the corporate worship of The Woods under the direction and leadership of the Lead Pastor. We believe corporate worship is one of the most important activities in the life of the church. It not only glorifies God, but it unifies and empowers God’s people for His mission in the world. The Worship Arts Leader will be instrumental in fostering a dynamic and engaging congregational worship experience every week.

To fulfill this role, the Worship Arts Leader must first and foremost maintain a growing relationship with Jesus Christ by knowing God intimately, growing in community with others, serving on a ministry team, and sharing in Christ’s mission to the world. This includes:

  • Maintaining a personal quiet time with Bible Study and worship
  • Participating in a Small Group at The Woods on a regular basis
  • Engaging in personal evangelism with those outside the church
  • Keeping watch over one’s heart and mind
  • Receiving open and honest feedback for the purpose of accountability

 

:: Worship Arts Leader Core Responsibilities ::

  • Maintain an authentic and growing relationship with Jesus Christ so that worship is an overflow of one’s daily walk and spiritual growth.
  • Model and lead heart-felt worship of God on a weekly basis.
  • Build the necessary teams to carry out the vision for worship at The Woods.
  • Plan corporate worship experiences that engage the congregation in dynamic worship in consultation with the Lead Pastor and do so with prayer, conceptual forethought, theological accuracy, and musical appropriateness.
  • Provide pastoral care.
  • Lead the spiritual development of worship teams.
  • Plan and participate in major seasonal and/or outreach events.
  • Manage the worship department budget.
  • Participate fully in staff meetings.
  • Set annual goals for the worship ministry that are in line with the overall vision of The Woods and then evaluate how those goals were attained or modified during the year.

 

:: Education & Experience ::

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Three years of experience preferred
  • Track record of growing and leading teams
  • Music training preferred

 

:: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities ::

  • Ability to play a musical instrument (piano or guitar preferred) and/or lead vocally.
  • Ability to plan weekly worship services.
    • Order of service (i.e., song selection, flow, theme, prayer, announcements, etc.)
    • Schedule teams (singers, band, tech, production)
    • Lighting design
    • Visual design (i.e., slides, stage design, sermon slide presentation, etc.)
    • Worship tracks (loopcommunity)
    • Preparing chord charts
    • Organizing and overseeing rehearsals
  • Ability to plan and execute worship/music for special events (i.e., funerals, weddings, holidays, etc.)
  • Ability to identify, train, and mentor emerging worship leaders and musicians, both in their gifting and in their love for Christ and neighbor.
  • Ability to manage and develop the tech and audio teams for worship services.
  • Ability to work closely with the staff and Lead Pastor to accomplish any other objectives on a weekly basis.
  • Preferred skill and knowledge of technology in worship including the following: Logic Pro, Ableton, ProPresenter, Finale, Planning Center Online, Multitracks, Loopcommunity, Microsoft Office/Mac comparable, MainStage, and Waves audio plugins.
  • Preferred skill and knowledge of live broadcasting and online streaming.
