Ground Level Opportunity

Turning Point is seeking to partner with a passionate and spiritually minded Children’s Pastor who can provide leadership to our children and family ministries. This leader will lead a Christ centered, safe, and exciting environment where children can encounter God, grow in their faith and establish life long relationships. The ideal candidate will understand the strong need and value of maintaining partnerships with both parents and servant leaders. This role is both pastoral and strategic-overseeing various programs and ministries, continued development of servant leaders, connecting with the families of not only the existing church body but also within the community, all while maintaining alignment with the vision and core values of the Turning Point Church as well as the Church of the Nazarene.

Qualifications

Personal up to date experience of salvation, sanctification and baptism
A lifestyle that aligns with the Articles of Faith and Covenant of Christian Conduct of the Church of the Nazarene
Experience of working with children and families, especially those with spectrum issues.
Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills
Possess the heart of a servant leader and demonstrate the ability to be a strong team player

Key responsibilities

Ministry development

Sunday morning programming
Seasonal events  including VBS, Whiffleball Wednesdays, Friday Fun nights
Introduction to kids quizzing and other SWID district children events
Consistent implementation of spiritual growth opportunities
Pulpit supply as needed and scheduled opportunities to preach or involve children in corporate worship

Overseeing the Turning Point Sports Ministries program that currently includes a fall soccer, cheer and flag football league which services nearly 100 kids combined ages 3-13 each fall.

Servant Leader development

Recruit, equip, encourage and train Servant Leaders for Children’s Ministry
Ensure all team members follow necessary safety and background protocol as directed by the SWID district
Establish a Children’s Ministries leadership team
Family Engagement

Partnering with parents in the individual discipline needs of their children
Communicate effectively and regularly with parents using whatever methods necessary
Plan occasional events for parents and families
Outreach & Community Impact

Create and lead welcoming, outreach driven events for children and families
Provide direction and leadership to the Turning Point Sport Ministries program
Representation at SWID district wide children’s events
Community VISIBILITY and involvement

Administration Responsibilities

Weekly “check-ins” with the Senior Pastor
Attend staff/church board meetings
Coordinate building usage calendar
Submit monthly reports and updates
Develop a Children’s Ministry budget including possible approvable fund raisers
Develop ground work for a smooth transition into a current much needed youth ministry department
