Position Summary: The Valley Church is a multi-campus church that exists to punch holes in the darkness. The Valley is a church that is radically committed to living out the heart of Jesus. Our Next Gen pastor/director, who will also oversee elementary, will be a leader who has a passion to influence children, teens, and their families to hear and respond in obedience to Jesus Christ. This leader will guide the ministry toward opportunities for creative and exciting ways to connect to our community. He or she will be passionate about his or her call to ministry and demonstrate a willingness to engage in the lives of children, teens, their families, and our community.
What you bring:
The successful candidate will have experience in family/Next Gen ministry, with the ability to recruit volunteers, lead serve teams, and develop leaders. He or she will embrace working in a grace-oriented church that is committed to reaching the unchurched and developing relationships with families in our schools and community.
Core Responsibilities Elementary ministry:
- Understand and communicate The Valley Church Next Gen vision and strategy for the elementary ministry.
- Disciple elementary age children using curriculum and engaging activities, small group settings, and other diversified tools.
- Recruit, develop and lead a team of volunteers, including parents, to effectively implement the vision and values of The Valley Church.
- Create an environment that is filled with wonder and excitement and where kids beg their parents to take them to church.
- Provide shepherding care to kids and their families.
- Due to the unique and diversified culture of the family unit in Sidney, the elementary pastor/director will create a discipleship culture that supports all parts of the family by partnering with parents and providing them with support and resources.
- Identify and support the giftings within your volunteers.
- Steward the elementary ministry budget with wisdom and care.
- Provide age appropriate avenues for kids to serve.
Core Responsibilities Next Gen Pastor:
- Implement The Valley Church vision for holistic discipleship for birth-teens
- Collaborate with other campus Next Gen pastors/directors
- Â Oversee budgets for all areas of ministry birth-teens
- Meet regularly with Next Gen ministry team
- Recruit and develop serve teams for multiple areas of Next Gen ministry
- Invest in leaders to multiple leadership capacity
- Partner with parents by equipping them to be the primary spiritual leaders at home
- Build relationships with schools, local organizations, and community leaders
- Ensure The Valley Next Gen safety procedures are implemented
- Â Prepare the next generation to lead into the future
- Foster and develop the spiritual formation of the Next Gen team

- Leads a life of following Christ and has life/work balance in marriage, parenting, and friendships.
- Ability to develop, motivate and lead teams.
- Relational, with a friendly and approachable disposition.
- Possess a teachable spirit.
- A genuine love and passion for working with children.
- A love and genuine passion for Sidney and Shelby County, Ohio.
- Comfortable receiving feedback from within a collaborative team.
- Growing emotional intelligence and awareness of strengths and challenges.
- Commitment to the mission, core values, and beliefs of The Valley Church.
