The Smith Center Church of the Nazarene is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Pastor to lead our congregation in fulfilling our mission of spreading the love of Christ and making disciples, both locally and globally.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Wesleyan holiness theology, strong preaching and teaching skills, exemplary leadership qualities, effective communication abilities, and a passion for discipleship, community engagement and missions.
Preaching and Teaching: Deliver biblically sound and engaging sermons that inspire and challenge the congregation to grow in their faith and relationship with Christ. Provide thoughtful and relevant teaching in various settings to deepen understanding of scripture and theology.
Leadership: Provide visionary leadership to the church staff and congregation, guiding them in fulfilling the church’s mission and vision. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence in all areas of ministry, including missions.
Effective Communication: Communicate effectively with the congregation through various channels, including preaching, teaching, written materials, and digital platforms. Listen attentively to the needs and concerns of the congregation and respond with compassion and empathy.
Community Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, local schools, organizations, and other churches to effectively minister to the needs of the local community. Lead initiatives that demonstrate Christ’s love through acts of service and outreach, including missions projects and partnerships.
Missions: Champion the mission of the church to make disciples of all nations by actively supporting and participating in missions efforts locally, regionally, and globally. Equip and mobilize the congregation to engage in missions through prayer, giving, and hands-on involvement.
Vision Casting: Cast a compelling vision for the future of the church, rooted in prayer and discernment of God’s leading. Inspire and mobilize the congregation to actively participate in fulfilling the vision through their gifts, talents, and resources.
Compassion and Empathy: Demonstrate a heart of compassion and empathy for individuals in all stages of life and circumstances. Provide pastoral care and support to those facing challenges, crises, or spiritual growth opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master of Divinity or equivalent theological degree from an accredited institution.
2. Ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene or willing to pursue ordination within a reasonable timeframe.
3. Proven experience in pastoral ministry, with a track record of effective preaching, teaching, and leadership.
4. Strong understanding of Wesleyan holiness theology and commitment to its principles.
5. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to connect with diverse audiences.
6. Demonstrated ability to cast vision, build teams, and empower others for ministry.
7. A heart for all ages and areas of ministry, with a desire to see individuals of every background and life stage grow in their relationship with Christ.
8. Passion for missions and a commitment to mobilizing the church for global outreach and engagement.
