Overview

I invite you to Join the Journey with River Valley Church of the Nazarene.  Now, let me get straight to the point.  We need HELP!!  We are a small church (average 15 on Sunday mornings). We have been without someone to lead our worship for over 4 years. And we miss live worship. We need leadership and energy to restart our youth and children’s ministries. We don’t have the resources to pay big salaries or offer enticing benefits.  But what we do have is a faith-filled group of Jesus followers who will offer their love and support to anyone who’d like to serve alongside us to reach our neighborhood with the hope of Jesus! My name is Chuck Lauver, I have been the lead pastor of RVCN for almost 13 years. After serving for 20-plus years as a full-time youth pastor, the Lord called me to RVCN. When I accepted this assignment, I knew it would be a bi-vocational position. And it is still today. In fact, 5 years ago, I went back to school to become a nurse so that I would no longer need the small salary from the church. So, today the church puts that extra resource towards ministry. This fall we reopened our preschool, SonShine Academy with five 3-5 year/olds.  We will be licensed with the state this spring and will be able to enroll up to 12 students. Currently, SonShine has one full-time teacher and our director serves as a volunteer. Once licensed with 5 more students we will be adding an additional full-time teacher. I believe with all my heart that our church would thrive with an exclusively bi-vocational staff.  RVCN is in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Fort Smith is a great community of about 80,000 (over 100,000 in what is called the River Valley). Fort Smith has a large public school system, two major medical facilities, and several major industries and manufacturing. Here are some links to check out the area: https://fortsmith.org/, https://www.fortsmithar.gov/, https://www.fortsmithschools.org/. We are located 1 hour from the Northwest Arkansas Area, 3 hours from Oklahoma City and Little Rock, 4 hours from Kansas City, and 5 hours from Dallas/Fort Worth. If unconventionally serving on staff sounds intriguing to you (think church plant mindset) and you are called to worship, children or youth ministry and are up to the challenge of building ministries from the ground up, then I would love to start a conversation with you.  One last thing, relocation expenses will be covered by the church.
