What Prairie Heights is looking for:

An experienced leader who is passionate about meeting students where they are at and helping them grow in their spiritual walk with Jesus. A builder of volunteer teams, who is experienced in motivating both students and adults to grow as followers of Christ and leaders. Someone who is comfortable and confident in discussing real life issues with truth and grace for students.  An ability to equip others to lead in that same way.

A pastoral heart who connects with students from 6th-12th grade in meaningful ways from being culturally relevant on stage to building strong, personal relationships. A connector who can eat weird food, play silly games, have challenging conversations and pray boldly for student life change – all in one night!

 

What will you do?

Oxygen/Student Ministries ( 6th grade- 12th grade):

  • Cast, communicate and implement the vision of Student Ministry.
  • Recruit, lead, empower and equip volunteer teams who lead students in small group environments.
  • Partner with local middle and high schools to build connections with school administration, teachers, coaches and students in the community.
  • Act as “Campus Pastor” for Middle and High School students by developing, preparing, and leading mid-week student programming with excellence.
  • Develop ways to be relevant with students in messages, programming, and events.
  • Create opportunities for students to own the mission through volunteering.
  • Ensure environments are safe, engaging, and appropriate for the activities planned
  • Oversee the safety and security of minors (background checks, policies and procedures, incident reports) and crisis management.
  • Connect with parents and students so they feel valued and cared for.

Pastoral Care:

  • Participate in pastoral duties including weddings, funerals, hospital visits, and after-hours care, with a focus on families and individuals connected through Oxygen.

Required Qualifications:

  • Committed Follower of Jesus
  • Call to ministry, specifically pastoral
  • 2 years of experience working with Middle or High School Students (church, school, work)
  • 2 years of communication experience, specifically to student audiences
  • Successful history of building, leading, motivating, and growing effective teams
  • Demonstrated experience developing a vision, creating goals, and measuring growth
  • Excellent communication skills; interpersonal, written, and verbal
  • Self-Directed with ability to manage multiple projects successfully
  • Commitment to the process of emotional health and self-care in all areas of their life

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ordained pastor or on pastoral track
  • History of leading in a large church or large organization (1,000+)
  • Pastoral or non-profit experience including care, teaching, spiritual direction, and mentorship
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience working in a multi-site church
  • Background in recruiting, training and leading large volunteer teams

 

Reports to: Director of Family Ministries

Classification: Flexible Full Time (32-40 hours) + Benefits

Salary Range: Varies on Experience

Schedule: Sunday-Thursday, including Weekend Services and Wednesday Night Oxygen.
