POSITION SUMMARY

Olive Knolls Church exists to make more and better disciples of Jesus Christ bybuilding an attractive community for our active reach as we REACH, GROW, SERVE,and GO. A key component of making Disciples is to send and deploy people into theworld both locally and globally.

The Children’s Pastor is responsible for providing leadership, development, and direction for the Children’s Ministry staff and volunteer teams as it pertains to the vision, mission and strategy of all that reaches families both within OKC and our community.

The Pastor of Children is a full time salaried position. Therefore, a minimum of 40 hours per week is required. This position requires a background check, resume, a license or Ordained Elder in the Church of the Nazarene.

ACCOUNTABILTY

The Pastor of Children is directly accountable to the Lead Pastor

RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)

1. Oversee all programming and ministry for children ages birth – 4th grade, including Sunday mornings, mid-week programming,  baptism class, summer programming, camps, etc.

2. Choose and prepare curriculum for each program

3. Create a dynamic atmosphere, activities and programming for each age group that will facilitate learning and encourage spiritual growth

4. Recruit, train, schedule and lead teams of volunteers for each area of children’s ministry

5. Communicate the needs of children’s ministry to the staff and OKC as a whole

6. Be a liaison between the church and Olive Knolls Christian School by being present at school functions (to the extent which is reasonable) and communicate with school families the opportunities OKC offers.

7. Oversee Ministry Safe protocols for children ministry programming and administer the Policies and Procedures of Child Safety.

8. Coordinate childcare needs for church activities and events, when it is appropriate to do so.

9. Ensure facilities, grounds and equipment used for children’s ministry purposes are clean, safe and in good repair.

10. Develop and oversee an annual children’s ministry budget

11. Plan and direct special events and activities.

12. Partner with the Student Pastor to schedule periodic family activities and work on transitions between age groups.

13. Provide opportunities for children to use their gifts to serve their peers, church and community

14. Serve as the Chaplain of OKCS elementary age.

1. A vibrant, growing relationship with Jesus Christ

2. Theological compatibility with and active membership in the Church of the Nazarene

3. Enthusiastic support of the mission, vision and values of Olive Knolls Church

4. Support of the Lead Pastors’ leadership

5. Willingness to participate in classes, conferences, trainings, etc. for professional development purposes.

6. Compatibility with the staff

7. If married, a supportive spouse and family

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

1. Education or work-related experience overseeing, directing, and/or managing paid or volunteer staff

2. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills

3. Demonstrated leadership and administrative gifts

4. The ability to provide information, direction and feedback to all constituents

5. Strong problem-solving skills

6. Love Children and families
