New Life is a thriving multi-generational, multi-cultural, multi-congregational church that strives to help people Know God, Know People and Make a Difference.
In the past few years, we have seen strong growth in gathering people for worship and sending them out on mission. We currently run three in-person live English venues, one in-person video English venue, one in-person live Spanish venue, and our online campus each week. Plus, we’re expanding to a second campus in Ashland in 2025. We have worked hard to increase engagement with our neighborhood in community transformation and strengthened relationships with our local and global mission partners.

ABOUT THE TECH DIRECTOR: (AVL in this document means Audio, Visual, & Lighting)
The Tech Director will oversee and facilitate campus-wide Worship Tech and provide technical IT support in environments of worship services, rehearsals, and special events in every worship venue at New Life Church of the Nazarene (including Children and Next Gen). This means the operation of computers, mid-week and weekend AVL support roles, and AVL support for special mid-week services or events at the McAndrews Campus. This means recruiting leaders and team members to assist in various technical support roles and implementing strategies for training and development. The primary measure for success is the reliable, effective operation of campus-wide tech and the technical AVL execution of healthy, distraction-free environments of weekend worship & special events in each venue.
GENERAL AREAS OF OVERSIGHT:
1. Organization-Wide Office Support
• Give feedback for IT & AVL updates throughout campus as necessary.
▪ IT support for networks, staff computers, and copiers is NOT your job.
• Scheduling all technical positions needed for Weddings, Funerals, and Events and prepare tech for them.
• Schedule all AVL positions for regularly scheduled worship venues at least four weeks in advance.
2. Weekend Worship Experiences
• Lead the worship experience production and technical teams and run-throughs.
• Coordinate all lighting scenes and creative elements for the weekly worship experiences.
• Ensure all media is prepared for weekend worship (hosting & preaching slides, lyrics, countdowns, loops, roll-ins, etc.) in cooperation with those already inputting and/or creating that media.
• Oversee the AVL production process for all weekly worship experiences (including Children’s, Next Gen, Traditions, Latino, & Ashland Campus).
• Monitor the AVL experience during all worship venues (mainly LIVE) and other events to adhere to the quality and standards of New Life Church and to minimize technical mishaps.
• Maintain online service sound and video quality. Manage our online campus to ensure services are running smoothly and our hosts are engaging with online attendees.
• Ensure all A/V equipment is maintained, set, and in working condition. Work towards creating redundancies in essential systems.
3. Team Development and Training
• Equip, train, and release volunteer leaders to run all AVL equipment.
• Encourage, disciple, and invest spiritually in your volunteer leaders and team.
• Provide tech assistance to volunteers as needed.
• Work to empower teams and individuals to take their next steps in leadership. Be a hero-maker. The Worship & Creative Arts Pastor will join you in this.
• Hold Tech Team members to standards of excellence in all team functions. i.e., Promptness to meetings and events, team unity, job performance, knowledge growth, etc.
• Create a culture of teamwork and growth through encouragement and accountability.
• Cast vision for the future of the AVL team in coordination with the Worship & Creative Arts Pastor.
4. Projects and Collaborative Areas
• Support the Worship and Creative Arts Pastor in their vision and growth for the team.
• Participation in Creative Arts Team Meetings (if your schedule allows), Service Planning Meetings, and Staff Meetings.
• Work with the Worship and Creative Arts Pastor to oversee the completion of projects and ensure that all technical needs are up-to-date and functioning properly.
OTHER AREAS OF LEADERSHIP:
Continually look for ways to enhance the worship experience.
Continually improve your skills and knowledge of AVL issues related to the church setting.
Continue to improve and enhance our online production.
Oversee and plan the annual budget for technical equipment.
Create, record, edit, and produce video media as needed. Get training in this as needed.

IMPORTANT TIME-OFF BENEFIT NOTE
Regardless of how much ETO you earn, you may take NO MORE than 5 Sundays off per year as a Sunday essential position.
For those who have worked less than 5 years in the Church Of The Nazarene, that number is lowered to 3 Sundays per year.
MINIMUM EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma
PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Experience Windows 7 & 10
Experience in Apple OS10+
Experience in ProPresenter
Experience with Planning Center Services
Experience with any Lighting, Video, and Audio software and/or hardware.
Experience with some form of Midi editing/programming tool (i.e. ProTools, Ableton)
Proficient with Microsoft Office Apps

WORKING CONDITIONS / EQUIPMENT:
Duties are performed indoors in an office environment.
Duties require extended periods of standing, walking, sitting, and talking or hearing.
Duties require occasional periods of climbing or balancing, pulling/pushing items, lifting/carrying items, keyboarding, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Weights up to 100 pounds are encountered occasionally.
Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Reading materials and verbal instructions encountered in this position require complex interpretation.
Must be able to transport oneself to work‐related meetings, workshops, conferences, etc.

Typical Working Conditions:
Office and Church environment, with occasional exposure to extreme heat or cold. Occasional exposure to allergens and colognes and perfumes. Kneeling, crawling, lifting semi-heavy objects, and going on lifts is in-frequent, but expected.
