Position Summary
The Dorm Parent serves as a caring Christian mentor and supervisor for students living in the residential program at Native American Christian Academy. This position provides daily care, guidance, discipleship, and support to students in a safe, structured, and Christ-centered environment. Dorm Parents help students develop spiritually, emotionally, socially, and academically while maintaining a positive residential atmosphere.
Dorm Parents supervise students before and after school, during evenings, and on weekends when students remain on campus. This role requires strong relational skills, spiritual maturity, consistency, and a heart for serving Native American youth and families.
Essential Responsibilities
- Student Care & Supervision
- Provide direct supervision and care for residential students in the dorm setting.
- Maintain a safe, clean, structured, and supportive living environment.
- Supervise students during morning routines, meals, study times, evening activities, and bedtime routines.
- Monitor student behavior and encourage positive decision-making and personal responsibility.
- Enforce school and dorm policies consistently and respectfully.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, conflicts, illness, or behavioral concerns.
Discipleship & Mentorship
- Build meaningful relationships with students through daily interaction and encouragement.
- Provide spiritual guidance and Christ-centered mentorship.
- Lead or participate in devotions, prayer times, Bible studies, and chapel-related activities.
- Model Christian character, integrity, and healthy interpersonal relationships.
- Encourage students in their spiritual growth and personal development.
Academic & Emotional Support
- Support students in maintaining academic success and healthy routines.
- Assist with study hall supervision and homework accountability.
- Encourage healthy communication, emotional well-being, and conflict resolution.
- Collaborate with school staff, counselors, teachers, and administration regarding student needs and concerns.
Residential Operations
- Help maintain dorm schedules, routines, and organization.
- Assist with transportation, activities, appointments, or campus events as needed.
- Complete incident reports, logs, and other required documentation.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a lifestyle consistent with Christian values.
- Passion for working with youth in a residential and discipleship setting.
- Ability to build positive, healthy relationships with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, boundaries, and confidentiality.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or experience in youth ministry, counseling, education, or residential care preferred.
- Ability to pass background checks and meet school safety requirements.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Physical & Schedule Requirements
- Ability to supervise and actively engage with students throughout the day.
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
- Flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, overnight responsibilities, and weekends when students are on campus.
