Associate Pastor

**Role Overview:**

Mobile First Church of the Nazarene is seeking an Associate Pastor of Youth and Discipleship. This pastor will oversee M1’s discipleship ministries and lead the youth ministry. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, and supervising small group ministries, assimilating church attendees into disciple-makers, and recruiting and training small group leaders and volunteers for each ministry.

**Primary Responsibilities:**

1. **Develop and Oversee All Discipleship Programs, Groups, and Activities.**
– Foster a culture of disciple-making.
– Design an annual calendar of discipleship events.
– Assess M1 Church’s current discipleship model and familiarize yourself with existing small groups, classes, and programs.
– Create and implement a new, relevant strategy for discipleship.
– Recruit, train, and empower new small group leaders and teachers.
– Ensure leaders and teachers are adequately equipped for ministry.
– Communicate regularly with leaders and teachers.
– Develop future strategies, including conferences, workshops, and one-on-one programs.
– Establish a process for tracking discipleship effectiveness, numerical growth, and spiritual maturity.

2. **Develop and Oversee the Youth Ministry (Grades 7-12).**
– Design the youth ministry to attract and engage new families from the community.
– Maintain an organized annual calendar of events and plan well in advance.
– Manage all equipment and technology used in services.
– Connect students creatively with the Word, helping them learn and apply its teachings.
– Regularly assess the spiritual needs of students and respond appropriately, including building relationships and providing care for students transitioning from 6th to 7th grade and from 12th grade to adulthood.
– Recruit, organize, and train adult volunteers, ensuring regular and accessible communication about ministry events and changes.
– Respect family dynamics, engaging parents, and fostering healthy relationships between teens and their families.
– Create and support opportunities for teens to serve in ministries both inside and outside the church.
– Manage administrative tasks, such as maintaining personal information records for students, policies, waivers, communications, promotions, budgeting, and fundraising.

**Additional Responsibilities:**

– Coordinate and Support Routine Church Staff Tasks.

– Collaborative multi-ministry involvement.
– Attend and contribute to weekly staff meetings.
– Plan and manage annual ministry budgets.
– Complete general pastoral duties.
– Serve and counsel congregation members as needed.
– Assist the Lead Pastor as necessary and instructed.

– An active and engaging prayer life, mindful of the church’s needs.
– Supportive and loyal to staff members and the church body.
– Exhibits genuine servanthood, faith-centeredness, and spiritual maturity.
– Possesses spiritual gifts of teaching, leadership, and shepherding.
– Enjoys interacting with people and developing relationships.
– Demonstrates flexibility, cooperation, and teachability.
– A forward thinker who is self-directed, team-oriented, and organized.
– Trustworthy, and exhibits wise discretion.
– Embraces the vision, direction, and beliefs of M1 Church and has a heart for the Kingdom of God.

– **Competency:**
– A self-starter, willing to take charge of projects and assignments with foresight and planning.
– Proven ability to create effective systems and processes.
– Demonstrated experience in recruiting, leading, and managing people, especially volunteers.

– **Experience:**
– Ministerial education (bachelor’s degree or higher).
– Willingness to become a member of The Nazarene Church and pursue ministerial licensing if not already obtained.
– 1-3 years of relevant ministry experience.
– Experience working with teams and overseeing groups of people.
