Full-Time / Salaried Ministry Position
Overview
Kansas City First Church of the Nazarene (KCFC) is seeking a passionate, Spirit‑led Children’s Pastor to provide visionary leadership for our children (birth–4th grade) and their families. This role exists to disciple children toward a lifelong relationship with Jesus, partner with parents as the primary faith influencers, build safe and dynamic ministry environments, and help move KCFC forward in its mission.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Ministry Leadership & Vision
- Develop and implement a clear discipleship strategy for nursery through 5th grade.
- Plan and lead weekly children’s gatherings, including Sunday morning, midweek, and special events.
- Create engaging, biblically grounded teaching experiences that nurture spiritual formation.
- Provide support and resources to parents for spiritual development in the home.
2. Volunteer Team Development
- Recruit, develop, schedule, and encourage a high-performing volunteer team.
- Provide ongoing training, appreciation, and pastoral care for all children’s ministry volunteers.
- Ensure all volunteers comply with KCFC child-safety policies and background checks.
3. Ministry Operations & Safety
- Maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all children and families.
- Oversee check-in/check-out systems, classroom management, and emergency protocols.
- Manage ministry budgets, curriculum, supplies, equipment, and environments.
- Partner with church staff for communication, calendar planning, and facility use.
4. Pastoral Care & Community Building
- Build strong relationships with children, parents, and volunteers.
- Provide pastoral care as needed, including prayer, guidance, and family support.
- Engage with the community and local schools to expand outreach opportunities.
- Organize and lead key ministry events such as VBS, camps, and family gatherings.
5. Collaboration & Staff Engagement
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and actively contribute to church-wide strategic initiatives.
- Support and integrate children’s ministry with broader church life and intergenerational ministry.
- Align children’s ministry goals with the mission, vision, and values of KCFC and the Church of the Nazarene.
Qualifications
Required
- A clear, vibrant Christian faith and commitment to Wesleyan-Holiness theology.
- Agreement with and adherence to the beliefs and lifestyle expectations of the Church of the Nazarene.
- Experience in children’s ministry leadership in a church or Christian education setting.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead, equip, and inspire volunteers.
- Commitment to safety, excellence, and pastoral care.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in ministry, Christian education, or related field.
- Credentials or pursuit of credentials with the Church of the Nazarene.
- Experience in a multi‑staff church environment.
