POSITION SUMMARY:

Harvester is seeking a passionate, energetic, and experienced Children’s Pastor to lead and mentor children and their families. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and developing a comprehensive ministry program that nurtures the spiritual growth of children and their families, provides opportunities for fellowship and outreach, and connects them to the larger church community.

The Children’s Pastor will also work closely with the Lead Pastor, church leadership, volunteers and parents to ensure a safe and supportive environment for children.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and develop a comprehensive program that nurtures the spiritual growth and care of kids (K-5th grade) and their families.
  • Plan and provide oversight of Sunday morning and Wednesday evening kid’s ministry programming, including children’s church, small groups, and activities.
  • Plan and provide oversight of outreach events for children and their families, such as Fall Fest, Easter, Christmas, Summer, Back-to-School, etc.
  • Provide pastoral care and support to children and their families, including counseling, prayer, and encouragement.
  • Recruit, train, and lead volunteer teams to assist with children’s ministries.
  • Collaborate with church leadership, volunteers and parents to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in church-wide events and activities.
  • Maintain regular communication with the parents and/or guardians of children through social media, email, and other channels.
  • Build relationships with local schools to engage and serve children in the broader community.
  • Assist in the annual budget planning for children’s ministries.
  • Attend Missouri District and MNU Region events.
  • Upkeep and maintain children’s ministry spaces and assets.
  • Submit monthly ministry reports to the leadership team.
  • Accomplish administrative tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Serve as a member of the pastoral care team, participating in on-call, hospital, funeral and wedding services.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Maintains healthy and vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Reputation of unquestioned integrity.
  • District licensed or ordained in the Church of the Nazarene.
  • Bachelor’s degree in children’s ministry or a related field is preferred.
  • Teachable, respectful, humble, and willing to be held accountable.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor children.
  • Passion for sharing the Gospel and helping children and their families grow in their faith.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with church leadership, parents, and volunteers.
  • Creative and innovative approach to ministry.
  • Proficient in social media and other communication tools.

BENEFITS AND SALARY:

This is a full-time position with a salary of about $52,000 and benefits, including 3-5 weeks of vacation (based on years of ministry service), a 403b match, education assistance program, sick and bereavement leave, 9 paid holidays, 2 personal days, 2 weeks of enrichment/professional leave, and a relocation package.
