The Worship Leader is expected to champion and contribute to Grace church’s mission to Love, Grow, Serve, Go. This key role requires you to work with paid staff and volunteers to develop a welcoming and worshipful atmosphere. What we are looking for is a person called to ministry, who will work hard, be a team player, and can disciple others to grow in their faith and their ability to lead for the Lord.

    • Part-Time: 10-15 hours/week
    • Financial Package: The Worship leader will be paid an annual salary beginning on a part-time basis. The annual salary will be determined by the Church Leadership Team. Salary breakdown can be adjusted when possible, if desired.

Be Present

    • Attend Sunday Worship Gathering:
    • Sunday Grace Groups
    • Attend Mid-week Refuel
    • Attend Church Activities & and Outreach/Special Events
    • Be a part of the Church Staff Meetings (when work schedule permits)
        • Outreach/Special events – assist where needed, working, assist with set up / clean-up for eventsBe a part of church community events

Worship Ministry

    • Spend quality devotional time with Jesus seeking to grow your relationship with Him.
    • Be a spiritual leader and example to those involved in the worship arts ministry.
    • Lead and Develop the Worship Team and Tech Team with the goals of strengthening relational health in the team, gain perspective on ways to develop the ministry, collectively recruit and train new volunteers, and (most importantly) model a culture of worship and discipleship that is in-line with the overall mission of Grace Church.
    • Collaboration with Pastoral staff to design corporate gatherings (Sunday worship gathering, concerts, special events, etc.) that nurture congregational participation.
    • Oversee the roles, song selections, text selections, and all other elements that go into a worship gathering in cooperation with the message, series, and vision of the Pastoral staff.
    • Seek to encourage and equip the volunteers of the worship ministry for continual development in their current roles/gifts, potential roles/gifts, and, most importantly, their relationship with Jesus and pursuit of Christlikeness.
    • Seek creative ways for the worship ministry to further engage the church and surrounding community to fulfill the mission to Love, Grow, Serve, Go.
    • Manage and schedule volunteers for your ministry in advance and in a timely manner to allow preparation.
    • Lead weekly worship practices
        • Discuss any communication items with the Lead Pastor prior to it being sent out or told to our ministry volunteers’Plan for worship services & special services.
            • Communicate those with the Lead Pastor prior to discussing with Worship Ministry members.

Other Responsibilities

    • To make prayer an essential component in all gatherings and worship services
    • Encourage and equip those involved in the Worship Ministry
    • Demonstrate competent leadership and administrative skills, healthy communication, and technology/computer literacy and skills.
    • Communicate with the Church Staff Team plans for the worship ministry
    • Provide items for weekly church emails
    • Assist where necessary using your gifts and graces for ministry

Requirements

    • Intentional and continual growth in your walk with Christ
    • Agreement with the beliefs and values of the Church of the Nazarene
    • Ability to maintain levels of confidentiality when managing sensitive situations
    • Ability to play an instrument and sing
    • Strong work ethic
    • Integrity in all areas of life (Relational, Financial, Spiritual)
    • Worship leader experience
    • A team player

Vacation: Part time Staff are allowed 2 Paid Sundays per year for Vacation (based on start date). Communicate these with the Lead Pastor.  The eligible weeks off is per year for Vacation (based on start date) and do not carry over from year to year. Vacation request must be submitted in writing, at least two weeks  prior to the requested time off, to the Lead Pastor to review prior to being approved for time off.

Reporting: The Worship & Creative Arts Leader will report to the Lead Pastor, and also accountable to the Church Leadership Team.

EVALUATIONS:  Each year the Lead Pastor will sit down with the staff person and together look at the profile with fresh eyes.  Both will evaluate job performance based on the profile agreed on the year previous.  For the new year, adjustments will be made if necessary.  Both will sign off on the agreement together and it becomes the guide for the new year.
