Position Type: Salaried, Full time (32-40 hrs/wk)
Compensation: $40,000 per year, 3 weeks paid vacation
Reports to: Lead Pastor
Position Overview:
The Pastor of Youth & Outreach provides spiritual and administrative oversight to the youth ministry of our church (7th-12th grade) and serves as the primary coordinator for the church’s outreach ministries.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide vision, direction, and leadership to all areas of youth and outreach ministries, including but not limited to:
(1) coordinating with children’s ministry workers to facilitate smooth transition from elementary to junior high
(2) recruit, train, and equipment workers and teachers, and develop a leadership team to assist with ministry, outreach, and discipleship
(3) Coordinate with and support the church’s bus ministry team, assisting as needed
(4) Plan, develop, and execute special events and activies
(5) Be actively involved in district, regional, and denominational NYI activities, teams, and functions
(6) Fundraising and budget management for your area (s) of ministry
(7) Connect not only with students, but also their families, in order to win whole families for Jesus
(8) Serve as the primary coordinator of the church’s outreach and evangelism programs
(9) Assist the Lead Pastor during the Sunday morning worship service
(10) Maintain an active and professional presence on the church campus and be present and engaged in church activities involving other age groups
(11) Attend staff meetings and individual staff development meetings with the Lead Pastor
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a clear call to ministry. While ordination is not required, preference will be given to a candidate that is an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene or is actively working toward ordination under an approved course of study.
A deep and growing relationship with the Lord should be evident, and alignment with the doctrines and polity of the Church of the Nazarene must be clearly articulated. Additionally, the candidate should possess strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills and must be able to work collaboratively and cooperatively with other pastors, leaders, and volunteers.
