Job Purpose:

The Worship Pastor/Director will work closely with the Lead Pastor to provide opportunities for spiritual growth for the congregation. The Worship Pastor/Director’s specific role is to organize the church’s music ministry by involving members in singing and playing instruments in order to create an atmosphere of worship during services and for special events.

Services:

A Worship Pastor/Director works closely with the Lead Pastor to coordinate music for church services that follows the theme of the sermon. He or she chooses the songs and conducts the music during all Sunday services in close coordination with the Lead Pastor.

Responsibilities:

• Takes leadership of the church’s praise team and musicians.
• Assist in all church services and ceremonies, such as weddings and funerals.
• Provide counsel for members serving on the music ministry team.
• Attend, participate, and coordinate inter-church programs, especially fellowships and missions.
• Help lead the praise team for church services by selecting songs and conducting regular rehearsals.
• Screen new and prospective music.
• Prepare and make reports requested by the Lead Pastor or District Superintendent.
• Represent the church in the district and other places as desired, needed, or requested.
• Monitor the illegal copying and streaming of music.
• Attend weekly staff meetings.
• Leads the sound and media ministries of the church: Experienced with church websites, various social media, ProPresenter, YouTube, and Canva.
• Perform additional duties and assume responsibility as assigned by the Lead Pastor.

Qualifications:

• If Worship Pastor (not Worship Director), is ordained in the Church of the Nazarene or in the process of ordination.
• A degree in music ministry and/or religious studies is preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years ministry experience as a Worship Pastor, Associate Pastor, or Worship Director is also preferred.
• Avid technical know-how to facilitate avenues of the church’s social media.
