Job Title:Â Associate Pastor of Youth Ministries

Job Purpose:
The Associate Pastor of Youth Ministries will work closely with the Lead Pastor to provide opportunities for spiritual growth for all age groups but will work primarily with middle and high school youth (grades 6-12). They will partner with church leadership, staff, and volunteers to develop and implement the strategies necessary to communicate and promote our ministries clearly and effectively while ministering to the local community.
The Associate Pastor of Youth Ministries is responsible for the oversight, design, management, and leadership in the ministering to middle and high school youth. They are expected to coordinate with parents, volunteers, the Lead Pastor, and other pastoral associates in outreach to the local community and effective discipleship of the Park Lane Church congregation.
Church Ministry:
As youth pastor, he or she is to provide leadership and guidance to young people through various activities and instruction pertaining to Christian faith and life. He or she should develop policies and procedures for effective youth ministry. He or she should work closely with the Lead Pastor in developing a program of ministry to the youth on Sundays, weekdays, summer, and other special times.

- Is a professional who is highly pro-active and comfortable managing multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities and supervising high-volume production projects.
Youth Minister Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as chair of the Nazarene Youth International (NYI) council.
- Submit a quarterly calendar of NYI activities to NDI board.
- Coordinate the church calendar with the NYI council calendar and communicate with all volunteers involved.
- Submit an annual budget to the local church board and administer the funds in accordance with the board’s approval.
- Prepare and make reports requested by the Lead Pastor or District Superintendent.
- Represent the church in the district and other places as desired, needed, or requested.
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Perform additional duties and assume responsibility as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
Youth Minister Secondary Responsibilities:
- Organize the NYI council and NYI members for service and involvement in worship, witness, ministry, and fellowship activities.
- Prepare meeting agendas for the NYI council and chair all meetings.
- Preside over worship services and meetings sponsored by the NYI.
- Promote the work of the NYI in all areas of the church.
- Equip and assist NYI council members to carry out their particular ministries.
- Encourage youth to participate in local, zone, and district activities.
- Conduct a minimum of two extra youth activities per month.
- Create new approaches to youth ministry.
- Carry out the policies of the church board and Nazarene Discipleship International (NDI) board in relation to youth ministry.
- Give guidance and direction to all youth.
- Call on new prospects to the youth ministry.
- Keep up to date with the type of curriculum used to minister to the youth in cooperation with the NDI board.
- Discover spots for leadership enlistment in the youth department.
- Manage and oversee designated groups within the ministry, specifically assisting the directors and/or volunteers in youth ministry.
- Conduct Wednesday youth meetings or work with the person conducting.
- Conduct youth Sunday School class or work with the person conducting.
- Conduct weekly youth small group gatherings or work with the person conducting.
Associate Pastor Responsibilities:
- Candidates with a call to preach will have opportunities periodically to do so.
- Help manage and plan various church events and community outreach programs.
- Assist in all church services and ceremonies, such as weddings, funerals, and baptisms.
- Provide counsel for members of the church.
- Attend, participate, and coordinate inter-church programs, especially fellowships and missions.
- Aid with the daily operations and productions of the church.
- Assist the Lead Pastor with visiting members or prospective members of the church.
- Assist the Lead Pastor with visitor follow-ups and contact.
- Assist the Lead Pastor to research, locate, and validate potential outreach programs and projects that the church might want to engage actively and participate in.
- Work with the Lead Pastor to encourage a positive relationship with all the schools and businesses in the local community.
Qualifications:
- Is ordained in the Church of the Nazarene or in the process of ordination.
- A degree in theology/religious studies/youth or a related field, is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years ministry experience as a Youth or Associate Pastor, is also preferred.
- Avid technical know-how to facilitate avenues of the church’s social media.
