As the City First Church Youth Pastor, your primary responsibility is to be with God in such a way that you are growing in Christlike character and conduct, emotional maturity, empathy, and becoming more thoughtfully responsive and less thoughtlessly reactive. When you fill yourself with the water of the Word of God, out of the overflow of the Spirit you will be able to lead yourself and others toward a life of increasing hope, healing, and wholeness in Jesus.
If applicable – your secondary responsibility is the care and nourishment of your spouse and children. We do not sacrifice our family on the altar of ministry at City First.
Your third responsibility will be to provide leadership, oversight, and execution of ministry for City First Youth and their families.
The Youth Pastor is a member of the Preaching Team.
The Youth Pastor champions the Vision, Mission, Values, and Healthy Culture of City First Church to students and their families.
The Youth Pastor reports to the Lead Pastor for a weekly one on one, review of ministry goals, associated budget, and coaching as it relates to their role, responsibilities, and professional development.
Qualifications:
- Consistently practices and has written rhythms of Jesus-centered spiritual formation
- Submit responses to Youth Pastor Questionnaire at end of packet
- Submit DISC, Strength Finders, and Enneagram assessments
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
1. Youth Ministry Leader
The WIN: Students and adults working together to reach new students with Christ, having fun, and serving the city all while growing in relationships, spiritual maturity, and attendance.
- Planning, Preparing, and Executing a Jesus focused comprehensive ministry to, for, and with young people that aligns with the values and mission of City First Church
- Help Students become planted and thriving in the local church
- Lead in “doing” the Word of God together in community and not simply “hearing” the Word of God
- Provide Conferences and Retreats for students
- Be present at students’ schools and extracurricular activities – while some office time is required – we are not looking for a professional office dweller
2. Volunteer Team Developer
The WIN: A healthy, life-giving team of adults and students sharing the weight of responsibility for providing ministry to youth.
- Recruit, train, and empower a team of student and adult volunteers
- Provide ongoing training opportunities for leaders
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting healthy communication, conflict resolution, and shared vision and strategy among the team.
3. Systems Operator
The WIN: Youth ministries aligned with the overall City First mission to facilitate young people moving from knowing God to making a difference.
- Be comfortable with clear systems design to serve and help people take next steps on their faith journey.
- Lead a follow-up and assimilation system for new students in the youth group.
- Lead Small Groups system for discipleship, care, and connection.
- Lead and disciple a team of youth volunteers.
4. Staff Pastor
The WIN: A growing sense of relational connection and trust among all ages in the faith family.
- Participate on the preaching team, including Mission Chapel, and Sunday mornings
- Champion City First Church’s vision, mission, values, and healthy culture in all ministerial settings
- Shepherd and coordinate care for people
- Promote primary care through small groups, including youth small groups
- Administer the sacraments of baptism and communion
- Perform baby dedications and Funerals
Required Meetings:
- Weekly Staff
- Weekly one on ones with Lead Pastor
- Lead Youth Leadership Team meetings
- Community focused organization outside of City First (One Hope)
- Attend City First board meetings
