Youth Pastor Job Description Description: The Student Ministry Pastor is responsible for leading the planning and implementation of student ministry programs at Centralia Nazarene Church with the goal of attracting and discipling students (grades 7-12), as well as recruiting and equipping volunteer leaders into ministry as we lead students into a Christ-like life. The position is Part-Time (20 hours/week) and reports to the Lead Pastor. Responsibilities/Duties: • Plan, pray, and dream about the potential in all areas of student ministry. • Work within the youth ministry budget, keep accurate records and turn in funds and receipts in a timely manner. • Recruit, motivate, and supervise student ministry volunteer workers. Provide clear direction to volunteer workers on the roles, responsibilities, importance, and appropriate conduct of the position they hold within the student ministry. Ensure volunteers have a cleared background check on file. • Ensure that the student ministry programs agree with the vision, mission, and goals of Centralia Church of the Nazarene. • Ensure that the student ministry is visible to the church body as a whole through appropriate communications, presentations, and participation in adult worship services. • Build relationships with students, parents and church family outside of the church ministry setting. • Maintain communication with parents, students, and other staff on event details, scheduling, etc. When possible, make arrangements for substitute leaders in times of absence. • Ensure that the student ministry is visible to the church body as a whole through appropriate communications, presentations, and participation in adult worship services. • Participate in all-church and selected community events in which students will be present. • Connect with WAPAC District NYI and encourage participation in district events. • Plan special events throughout the year that meet student’s social, mental, physical, and spiritual needs. Arrive 45 minutes prior to all youth events and services to ensure all volunteers and necessary items are in place. • Implement, and coordinate student ministry safety policies and procedures with Pastor and policy committee. • Submit a monthly report to the church board on all student activities and any other ministry related items. • Attend weekly staff meetings and meet individually with Pastor weekly. • Other duties as required. Qualifications/Requirements: • Applicant must exhibit a personal and growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, a servant’s heart, and a healthy personal life. • Applicant must be gifted, called, and have a passion for student ministry. Additionally, the applicant must have a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and in ministry. • Applicant must agree to abide by the recommendations detailed in “The Covenant of Christian Conduct” section of The Church of the Nazarene Manual. • Applicant must embrace and promote the vision, mission, and values of the Centralia Church of the Nazarene and seek to fulfill the vision through all ministry activities. • Applicant must possess and display a Christ-like and team-first attitude in all interactions with staff, congregants, and the public. Education/Experience: • Highly desire candidates possessing a current Church of the Nazarene district license. • Highly desire possession of a ministry degree in a related area.
