Loving God, Loving Lexington

Part-time: 15-20 hours a week outside of Sunday worship

Compensation: $200 a week housing allowance

Supervision: Reports to Lead Pastor

Vacation: Two paid weeks (including 2 Sundays) per year

Qualifications: Must be bilingual in Spanish and English; Bachelor’s Degree in Ministry related field preferred but not required; Ordained, licensed, or willing to enter into the ordination track for the COTN

Duties:

  • Serve as a pastor to the people through prayer, pastoral care, and spiritual guidance
  • Actively develop and lead initiatives to foster a welcoming and inclusive church environment for people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Work closely with the Lead Pastor to bridge cultural gaps within the congregation and surrounding neighborhood
  • Help with the development of culturally appropriate worship experiences, events and programs.
  • Build relationships with community leaders and organizations serving Cardinal Valley
  • Partner with other church staff and ministries to integrate intercultural perspectives into existing programs and initiatives.
  • Provide interpretation for church services and events
  • Participate in church events (Trunk-or-Treat, Easter Egg Hunt, Adopt-A-Park, Faith Feeds, Nathaniel Mission After School Program, etc.)
  • Attend regular meetings with the pastor
  • Help cast vision and dream new ways to reach the community of Cardinal Valley.
  • Provide leadership for discipleship ministries through one-on-one mentoring and/or leading a small group for Spanish speaking neighbors

Personal Responsibilities:

  • To maintain an active relationship with Christ through personal Bible study, prayer, and attendance in worship
  • To work closely with the lead pastor and church staff
  • To support the ministries of the local church
  • To inform the pastor of any problems that would affect their ministry (personal or interpersonal)
  • To maintain a healthy work/life balance.
  • To practice Sabbath by taking an intentional day off each week, taking vacation time away from the church, and taking a Sabbatical every 5-7 years.
  • To commit to being a lifelong learner
  • To commit to living a life that bears public witness to the grace of God that calls us to a holy life and to be in harmony with the doctrines, polity, and practices of the Church of the Nazarene
