Overview

Requirements

* Minimum of 60 hours of college education completed

* A minimum of 21 hours of (or a combination of): theology, Biblical Lit., Applied ministry or Education, with at least 6 hours being in missions or cross cross-cultural studies.

* A call to ministry or a passion to serve in ministry

*Child Safety training and background check and other will be completed prior to arrival.

*A minimal 20 hours of training total may include hands on.

*Will be expected to attend a church family while here. Volunteer at church on Sunday is optional (but appreciated)

 *First Aid and CPR certification a plus

* Bilingual preferred (English-Spanish) 

 

Job Expectations:

*  Work alongside the Children & Family Coordinator to provide a safe and educational environment for children between 5-12 yrs. Old.

*  Assist families in filling out paperwork, assessing needs and referring them for further assistance.

*  Prepare 3 weekly age-appropriate lessons with activities for the After-school or summer BLAST programs.

*  Be ready to prepare one weekly activity for pre-teens ages 10-12.

*  Brainstorm ideas for children and youth summer activities.

* Assist families with filling out documents as needed.

*  Assist with organization of events & projects according to the needs

*  Meet with the Children & Families Coordinator and attend staff meetings weekly

*  Be in constant communication with Coordinator and Director

*  Be prepare to do anything else that will allow the ministry to children & family successful in reaching the needs of the community

*  Commitment to no less than 3 months in the fall & Spring or 10 weeks during the summer

*  -Start date: Monday, Jan. 13th – Hours to expect: 30-40 hrs weekly, maybe more some weeks, according to the needs of the week or in emergencies

 

Compensation:

– Supervised and hands on Experience

–  Housing & Utilities

–  $150, possibly up to $250, weekly allowance

We are looking for someone with a passion for ministry to the low income families, international or immigrant communities, share the gospel of Jesus, do compassionate ministries and willing to learn along the way.  This is a cross-cultural setting with not your everyday issues nor is it a traditional ministry. Applicants must have a call to children, family or compassionate ministry within any of the following contexts: inner-city, international, multicultural or missions.  Also, we prefer a junior or senior year student (or graduate) who has taken cross-cultural courses, children or family ministry, some Biblical/ Theology or similar.  At least 3 reference letters are required including one from your Pastor. Please do not include family members (unless family member is the pastor).
