PURPOSE STATEMENT:
The purpose of this ministry position is to help fulfill the Mission of Bethel Church of the Nazarene by developing and leading our church in bringing glory to God through music and songs of praise.
REPORTS TO:
Senior Pastor (supervisor)
Church Board – Provide Monthly Written Report to Church Board
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To organize, plan and coordinate the activities necessary to develop a dynamic music program that will honor and glory to our Lord Jesus Christ
- In general, the applicant should have a background and understanding of church music; should have experience in organizing and directing church music as well as knowledge to musical teaching to equip those who will serve with them
- The applicant should be proficient in the technology and equipment necessary for this area of ministry, including but not limited to YouTube, MediaShout, pro-presenter, sound boards, song select, projectors, slides, etc.
- The applicant should have a willingness to cooperate in the purpose and plans of Bethel Church for the total music program of the church
- The applicant should have experience in preparing for and leading worship in church with traditional hymns and contemporary songs and be experienced in leading choir
- To prepare robust praise and worship teams for multiple services and develop and train new volunteers that can adequately lead special services
JOB DUTIES:
- To be the worship leader for both worship services on Sunday mornings (contemporary and traditional)
- To be the worship leader for the Thursday night Celebrate Recovery worship service (optional)
- To be the worship leader for special services throughout the year as needed: Christmas Eve, Good Friday, Easter sunrise, outdoor services, etc.
- To prepare the worship set for each service and oversee the preparation of the worship media (pro-presenter)
- To schedule and conduct rehearsals and prepare the platform for each service
- To recruit and train worship band members
- To coordinate with the Lead Pastor on the music for each week
- To be responsible for the training and coordination of the sound & media team
- To help design the set for worship services
- To give input to the needs of the sound and media systems
To be responsible for the lighting arrangements for each service - To be in charge of special musical events that take place at the church
- To be involved in the pastoral care of those in this ministry area
- To be involved in the outreach ministries of the church
- To participate in weekly staff meetings and cooperate with the other staff and attend ongoing training.
