PRESCHOOL DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
In His Image is located at Bentonville Community Church in Bentonville AR. Maintaining a safe, healthy, nurturing, and engaging environment for children, where all social, emotional, and cognitive developmental needs are addressed is foundational to our program. Besides learning basic Christian beliefs and biblical teaching, the children also have circle time, music class, library, recreation, and much, much more! We work collaboratively with parents, and serve as a resource for support and education, engaging your children and nourishing their hearts and minds. The preschool functions as an entity of Bentonville Community Church of the Nazarene and the Preschool Director is a staff position of the church.
Qualifications:
Director must meet licensing requirements as set forth by the State of Arkansas:
· Director shall be twenty-one (21) years of age or older and provide documentation of one of the following educations levels:
a. Bachelor’s Degree or higher Degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university. (Determination of “related field” shall be made by the division)
b. Bachelor’s Degree in a non-related field from a regionally accredited college or university plus one of the following:
§ Four years of experience in early childhood education
§ Child Development Associate Credential (CDA)
§ Birth – Pre K Credential
c. Associate degree in early childhood, Child Development or a related field, plus six years of experience in Early Childhood Education.
d. Eight years of experience in Early Childhood Education and completion of one of the following, within two years of employment:
§ Child Development Associate Credential
§ Birth – Pre-K Credential
§ Director’s Credential or the equivalent
§ Technical Certificate in Early Childhood Education
Additional Qualifications:
· Commitment to the Christian Faith and alignment with the mission and values of Bentonville Community Church of the Nazarene.
· 3 Years experience in childhood education is strongly preferred.
· Background Check: Successful completion of a background check.
Basic Duties and Responsibilities:
● Plan, organize, direct, manage, and supervise programs for infants 6 weeks old to preschool-age children and facilitate positive relations among Preschool Staff, parents, and the Center.
● This position requires strong supervisory, leadership, and communication skills along with a warm and nurturing disposition.
● Must be able to work positively within a parent-participation school environment and promote an atmosphere of community and cooperation among all interested parties.
● The Preschool operates spring, summer and fall semesters.
Program Development:
● Maintain develop or modify curriculum to meet the needs of children enrolled in the Preschool and remain current with developments in the field.
● Work hand in hand with the Preschool Board to develop policies of admission, attendance, tuition, staff salaries, and educational goals in addition to establishing all other necessary policies procedures or rules pertaining to the operation of the Preschool
Staff Supervision/Employee Relations:
● Oversee and assist the Preschool Staff in administering, planning and evaluating activities and lesson plans that promote developmentally appropriate learning.
● Train and supervise the Preschool Staff by holding regular meetings, mediating minor disagreements, and assisting in the classroom when necessary.
● Plan, organize, coordinate, and promote professional development, training, and staff meetings.
● Regularly monitor staff performance and provide coaching or mentoring for performance improvement and development.
● Provide day-to-day leadership and work with staff to ensure high performance and to promote a positive environment.
● Conduct Preschool Staff performance evaluations.
● Arrange for substitute help for the Preschool Staff (and serve as a substitute as needed).
● Coordinate recruitment and hiring to fill Preschool Staff vacancies.
Administration:
● Primary responsibility for handling day-to-day administration of the Preschool, including determination of all schedules, assignment of Preschool Staff responsibilities, and utilization of office/classroom space and resources.
● Ensure compliance with applicable licensing requirements of the State of Arkansas and all other applicable county, state and federal laws, rules and regulations.
● Serve as the primary point of contact with all governmental and regulatory bodies in connection with the Preschool.
● Maintain implementation of health/safety programs and emergency procedures, and facility and equipment safety.
● Manage all aspects of student admissions.
● Keep and maintain full and complete records pertaining to the administration and operation of the Preschool.
● Submit a monthly report to the Bentonville Community Church board.
Fiscal Responsibilities:
● Work with the preschool board to prepare an annual budget for approval.
● Responsible for operation of the Preschool pursuant to an approved budget, including collection of enrollment fees and tuition, purchase of routine equipment and supplies, and handling/directing of routine banking transactions in accordance with established financial policies and procedures as set forth by the Preschool board.
Communication and Leadership:
● Develop a strong rapport with Bentonville Community Church. The Preschool fits under the “Make an Impact” pillar of the Church vision.
● Communicate effectively with Preschool parents and staff, prospective families, and the preschool board in order to promote understanding and support of the Preschool’s ministry.
● Support Services: Provide resources and support for families, including referrals to community services as needed.
● Fundraising: Coordinate fundraising activities and seek grant opportunities to support program initiatives.
