Arcata Church of the Nazarene is a small church restarting a good work in Arcata, CA, as we learn, serve, and grow together in God’s transformative love. We believe God has placed us where we are as a beacon of hope that welcomes all people, no matter where they come from, who they are, or what they have experienced, to meet Jesus, heal, develop meaningful relationships, and begin or revive a life-giving relationship with God.
Our church campus is one block from Cal Poly Humboldt University, across the street from a path leading into a redwood forest, and only a few miles from ocean beaches. Our community is diverse and defined by fine and performing arts, larger-than-life murals, academic settings, and the challenges of reaching those on the fringes of society. Many people in our mission field are interested in spirituality but not Christianity.

Job Responsibilities
Worship Ministries:
1. Lead Sunday and Friday Night Celebrate Recovery worship in collaboration with the Pastor and tech team; rehearse with the tech and worship team; recruit vocalists and musicians.
2. Participation in special services/events (Easter, Good Friday, Christmas Eve, prayer nights, Celebration of Life, marriage, etc.).
Other Ministry Opportunities:
This position is being developed “from the ground up,” so ministry development and leadership descriptions are not set in stone. The ideal candidate would be passionate about ushering people into the presence of God through worship, serving in our existing ministries, partnering to develop ministries and outreach that meet our community’s needs. The successful job candidate will have opportunities and support to grow with their calling, spiritual gifts, and interests (including online service development, preaching and administering the sacraments).
Schedule:
· Sunday mornings from 8:30 AM to Noon (service is at 10:00)
· Friday evenings from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM (Celebrate Recovery)
· The remaining weekly hours can be flexible based on ministry engagement and other employment demands.
Compensation and Benefits
· Compensation includes an on-site, one-bedroom, upstairs apartment with all utilities paid, storage area, and onsite laundry, valued at $1,500+ per month (furnished or unfurnished).
· $ 1,000 cash monthly salary.
· Allowance for ministerial education expenses and conferences.
· One-time $500 relocation reimbursement to offset the cost of moving (negotiable).
· Paid vacation (including four Sundays off each year).
