Position: Pastor of Worship and Young Families
Location: Mobile First Church of the Nazarene, Mobile, AL
Overview:
Mobile First Church of the Nazarene is seeking a passionate and Spirit-led Pastor of Worship and Young Families who will guide our church in authentic worship and nurture spiritual growth among young families. The ideal candidate will embrace our Wesleyan-Holiness tradition, support our mission, and foster a vibrant, multigenerational church culture.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Plan and lead weekly worship services, selecting music, readings, and creative elements that enhance spiritual engagement.
• Recruit, equip, and mentor volunteer worship team members, instrumentalists, and vocalists.
• Conduct weekly rehearsals and provide musical and spiritual direction to the worship team.
Lead a weekly devotional or Bible study for worship team members.
Minister to young families.
• Collaborate with church staff and volunteers to develop family ministry programs, including outreach events, discipleship groups, and children’s activities.
• Serve as primary pastoral contact for young families, providing counseling, guidance, prayer, and support in times of need.
• Organize workshops and resources to help parents and couples grow in faith, relationships, and parenting skills.
• Promote the mission and values of the Church of the Nazarene in all ministry initiatives.
• Participate actively in local and district Church of the Nazarene gatherings, trainings, and strategic planning.
• Maintain regular communication with families, team members, and church leadership to foster connectivity and spiritual health.
Hours of Work:
• This is a full-time position requiring approximately 40–45 hours per week, including Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, and occasional evenings and weekends for special events or meetings.
• Flexible office hours to accommodate meetings with families and volunteers; regular presence at church facilities is required.
• Participation in key church holidays and seasonal programs (Advent, Lent, etc.) is expected.
• Some remote/administrative work may be arranged with approval of the lead pastor.
Qualifications:
• A personal faith in Jesus Christ and a call to pastoral ministry
• Ordination or pursuing ordination in the Church of the Nazarene (or willingness to pursue credentials)
• Strong understanding of and adherence to the Articles of Faith, Covenant of Christian Character, and Mission of the Church of the Nazarene
• Experience leading worship (vocals and/or instruments) in a local church
• Ability to work effectively with families, children, and young adults
• Commitment to a holy, Christlike lifestyle and the mission of making Christlike disciples in the nations
• pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in theology, ministry, or a related field
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
• Agreement with the Manual of the Church of the Nazarene regarding doctrine and conduct
