WORSHIP LEADER OVERVIEW
Duration and Time Commitment:
10 hours per week (more details below):
– 4 hours allotted for preparation with any midweek planning. This includes
facilitating praise team practice as needed (typically midweek on Wednesday
evenings at 6:45 and Sunday morning at 8:30). This also includes selecting songs
and touching base with the pastor about the order of service/songs for each
Sunday ahead of time.
– 2 hours allotted for leading Sunday morning worship.
– 2 hours for recruiting or developing those on the worship team, including
scheduling any “specials” for vocalists or instrumentalists, etc. We need you to be
actively introducing freshness to worship.
– 2 hours for other special tasks such as coordinating incidental special services
and designing the lyrics program.
– Weekly contact with the pastor and monthly meetings will be maintained.
Financial Compensation:
Paid part time staff: $13.75 hourly at 10 hours weekly ($7,150 annually).
Qualifications:
We’ll begin by learning your testimony. Do you have a vibrant and growing
relationship with Christ? Will you be an example to others in character and
integrity?
Be teachable, humble, and have a servant’s heart. Be a self-starter as well as a team
player.
Possess strong vocal ability. Piano / keyboard or guitar proficiency is preferred.
Provide own transportation to and from the church.
Undergo sexual abuse awareness training and submit to a background check.
Job Details and Additional Information:
1. Plan and prepare for Sunday morning worship. Turn on sound equipment before
Sunday morning praise team practice.
2. Facilitate worship practice twice a week. This currently takes place from 8:30 –
9:30 Sunday morning and on Wednesday night from 6:45 – 7:45 PM. These times
could be changed in your purview going forward. Arrive early to practice!
3. Take a proactive role in planning special services (Christmas Eve, Easter, etc).
4. Take a proactive role potentially recruiting new additions to the praise team.
5. Take a proactive role maintaining and monitoring all worship related technology,
including designing the lyrics program for Sunday’s service.
6. Participate in the life of the church. Build relationships and get involved.
7. Ask questions, be creative, take risks, learn, and have fun!
