Job Summary:
The NextGen Pastor at Watermark Church is a dynamic and engaging role responsible for overseeing and leading the Kids and Student ministries, covering age ranges from newborns to 12th grade. This position focuses on cultivating a nurturing and inclusive environment that encourages spiritual growth, community engagement, and leadership development among children and students. By training and managing volunteer leaders, planning impactful events, and building meaningful connections with families, the NextGen Pastor plays a crucial role in the spiritual and community life of the church.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee programs for Kids and Student ministries that promote spiritual growth and community engagement.
  • Train, manage, and support volunteer leaders across all children’s and youth activities.
  • Plan and execute kids’ events aimed at attracting new families to the church.
  • Create a welcoming and supportive environment for families and foster connections within the community.
  • Oversee the Kids Creative Team who designs and executes a new theme monthly for the Kids classrooms that ties in with the curriculum.
  • Organize Youth Rallies, small groups, and events that engage middle and high school students.
  • Conduct contact work with students, for example attending their extracurricular events, hosting social gatherings, or going out for a meal.
  • Collaborate with church leadership and other departments to ensure the success of ministry initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Biblical Studies, Christian Education, Youth Ministry, or a related field is typically preferred. A Master’s degree in Divinity, Theology, or Christian Ministry can be an asset.
  • Experience in Youth and Children’s Ministry: Proven experience working in youth and children’s ministry, demonstrating the ability to engage effectively with a diverse age range from infants to high school seniors.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills are essential, including the ability to recruit, train, mentor, and motivate staff and volunteers who work within the NextGen ministry.
  • Pastoral Skills: Strong pastoral and theological skills to provide spiritual guidance, teach biblical principles, and develop age-appropriate programs that foster spiritual growth.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, capable of effectively communicating with children, teenagers, parents, and church leadership.
  • Organizational and Administrative Skills: Competency in planning, organizing, and managing multiple ministry programs, including budget management and event planning.
  • Interpersonal Skills: High emotional intelligence to relate to and connect with children and teenagers from various backgrounds and to support them through their spiritual and personal development.
  • Adaptability and Creativity: Ability to adapt to changing needs within the ministry and innovate to keep the programs engaging and relevant for the next generation.
  • Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with using technology and social media as tools for ministry, including but not limited to Planning Center Online (PCO), social media platforms, and multimedia content creation.
  • Spiritual Maturity: A deep personal faith and commitment to the Christian values and teachings of Watermark Church, with a calling to serve and develop the next generation of church members.
