CHURCH VISION

The church’s vision is to “help people experience Heaven on Earth.” This is based on Jesus teaching us to pray “…your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matt 6:10).
Core Values at Crossroads: Prayer, Growth, Mentorship, Innovation, Diversity, and Hospitality.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY LEADERSHIP

The Children’s Pastor (CP) will identify, train, and unleash teachers to develop, lead, and grow Children’s Ministry. This includes an annual volunteer training event.
Think critically about the whole body of the church and chart a plan to make groups available that help people grow in Christ from where they are at.
Utilize church database software to take attendance, track growth, and converse with leaders and volunteers.
Coordinates with the office administrator for room/meeting assignments each semester.
Monitors and executes Children’s Ministry budgets. Budgets will be set in cohesion with the Executive Pastor.
Oversee and plan an annual VBS, Trunk-or-treat, and Easter event.
Oversee and stock our church prep room. This will help keep classrooms, children’s sanctuary, and overall ministry decorated in modern, inviting ways.
Work with the Church Communications Director to ensure a schedule of rooms and calendar that utilize the space Crossroads has to the best of our missional ability.
Receive schedules of children and family events and try to attend games and big family moments outside of the church.
Every 5th Sunday of a month, we have a “Family Sunday.” CP will be involved in planning and helping with that service.
At our quarterly “Reset Night,” CP will lead a break out for children. This is an all church prayer and worship night.

PROCESSES

Build teams of people, and equip them to own the ministry of the church and be ministers of the gospel from their lay roles.
Lead bi-monthly “huddles” between the 9am and 11am services that cast vision, train, and equip our VIPs.
Guided by the church vision, the CP will utilize our next steps plan to help guide people with clarity from visit, to membership, to small groups, to service, to leadership.
Work with safety team on developing security initiatives and plans.

PASTORAL CARE

The CP will be expected to be a pastor, carrying weight with the Lead Pastor in terms of offering pastoral care and counsel to the body of the church. This may include scheduling meetings, visiting hospitals, openness to marriage counseling, premarital counseling, etc.
Leads weekly large group session on Sunday mornings.
Identifies and equips new VIP’s (our local term for Children’s Ministry volunteers).
Leads baptism classes for children and is involved in, or if asked, does baby dedications.
Pursue or maintain ordination through the Church of the Nazarene.

TEAM OVERSIGHT

The CP direct reports include:
VIPs
Paid/part-time Children’s Ministry Assistant
The CP reports to the Executive Pastor.
The CP is expected to attend staff meetings and planning sessions.

EXTERNALLY FOCUSED INITIATIVE

Each pastoral staff should catalyze an externally focused ministry every year.
This should involve training and enabling lay people to own the ministry and eventually take it on. This meets our vision of our people finding their role to play in God’s story, our pastoral vocation of apostle, and our staff value of leading leaders.
It does not have to be outside of the ministries of the church, but it could target specific unchurched people (an example is “Created Special” ministry that enables people with special children to participate in our church).
Examples of this may be connecting with a local school on an initiative, starting a ministry at a soccer park, catalyzing a regular neighborhood prayer walk, etc.
