Pastoral Team Member

Youth Ministries

Key Responsibility: To serve as a full-time ministry staff member to provide visionary and personal leadership to youth ministries for 6th-12th grade students.

 

Reports Directly To:

Senior Pastor

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.      Develop a clearly defined vision and strategy for discipleship within the Youth Ministry that works in conjunction with the overall vision and mission for ministry at NFCN.

2.      Recruit, screen, train, and coordinate volunteer leaders for Youth Ministry classes, programs, events, and worship services. Work cooperatively with all staff and volunteers.

3.      Oversee the Ministry to Minors Policies as well as the Screening and Training Requirements through NFCN’s Policy Handbook. Maintain full adherence to these requirements along with the collaboration of the Children’s Pastor.

4.      Work collaboratively with the Children’s Pastor, College Pastor, and Youth Team members.

5.      Provide a vibrant, warm, friendly, and educational environment for participants.

6.      Work collaboratively with multiple ethnic congregations to ensure engagement with their 6th-12th grade students.

7.      Engage volunteers with training and preparation for leadership in ministry.

8.      Communicate the needs of the Youth Ministry to other staff and church leaders as appropriate.

9.      Organize, stock, and setup classrooms and worship rooms with necessary equipment, furnishings, and supplies.

10.   Work with Facility Management for building maintenance, setup, and repairs.

11.   Observe volunteers in ministry for the purpose of evaluation and support.

12.   Work collaboratively with pastoral staff to coordinate fellowship and outreach events as designated and needed.

13.   Engage in Sunday morning worship services as pastoral team member.

14.   Assist Senior and Associate Pastors in visiting laity members as requested.

15.   Maintain regular office hours, attend weekly staff meetings, and regularly scheduled ministry team meetings and trainings as determined.

16.   Engage in professional development through participation in District training events, personal education, conference participation, and other opportunities as appropriate.

17.   Project, plan, and administer the Youth Ministry annual budget under the leadership of the Executive Pastor.

18.   Participate in the life and worship of the NFCN Worship Community.

19.   Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor or Executive Pastor as requested.

 

Qualifications:

1.      Has a personal, active, and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

2.      Energetic, warm and enthusiastic about sharing God’s love with students.

3.      Physically capable of sustained weekly activities.

4.      Maintains confidentiality with sensitive information.

5.      Excellent written and verbal communication.

6.      Ministry experience required (volunteer or paid).

7.      Bachelor’s degree required. An emphasis in Christian Ministry, Christian Education, Pastoral Ministry, or Education is preferred. Special consideration will be given to an elder, deacon, or district licensed minister in the Church of the Nazarene.

8.      Must be in harmony with the Articles of Faith and the Covenants of Christian Character and Conduct of the Church of the Nazarene.
