About us:  

Olive Knolls Christian School (OKCS) is a ministry of Olive Knolls Church of the Nazarene in Bakersfield, California. We serve students from Preschool through 8th grade, and our families come from across the community. We give children an academically strong education rooted in Christ, where they are known, loved and discipled. OKCS is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). [Enrollment: ~400 students]

The role:

OKCS is looking for a Head of School who is a spiritual leader and a skilled educator. This person will carry the school’s mission forward into its next season. The Head of School leads faculty and staff, runs daily operations and works closely with the Senior Pastor, the church and the School Board. Together they will strengthen the school’s academics, finances and campus.

Key responsibilities

• Set the school’s spiritual and educational direction, keeping Christ at the center of the curriculum and campus life.
• Hire, develop, evaluate and shepherd faculty and staff.
• Oversee the curriculum, instruction, assessment and student outcomes from Preschool through 8th grade.
• Build the budget and manage it with the Business Manager. Plan for tuition, enrollment and long-term financial health.
• Lead enrollment, marketing and family relationships.
• Help plan campus facilities, including upcoming classroom improvements.
• Build close ties between the school and Olive Knolls Church, and represent OKCS in the wider Bakersfield community.
• Keep the school compliant with state, ACSI accreditation and handbook requirements.
  Qualifications
• A growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Membership in the Church of the Nazarene, and full agreement with its Articles of Faith and Covenant of Christian Character (required).
• The ideal candidate is an ordained Elder in the Church of the Nazarene.
• A bachelor’s degree is required. A master’s in Educational Leadership, Administration or a related field is preferred.
  [3–5+] years of K–8 teaching experience and [2+] years in school administration.
• A proven record of building staff culture, guiding academic improvement and managing a budget.
• Strong communication, relational and collaborative leadership skills.Compensation
  $90,000–$100,000 per year, depending on experience. Benefits include [health, retirement, tuition benefit for OKCS students, etc.].
