Children’s Ministry Director

Position Type: Hourly, Part-Time (12-15 hours per week)

Compensation: $20/hour, 3 weeks unpaid vacation

Reports to: Lead Pastor

Position Overview:

The Children’s Ministry Director provides spiritual and administrative oversight to the children’s ministries of our church (Pre-K through 6th Grade), including recruitment, training, and support of children’s ministry workers.

Primary Responsibilities:

To provide vision, direction, and leadership for the Sunday morning and midweek children’s ministry programs (Sunday School, Children’s Church, Quizzing, midweek Caravan program, VBS, and special events).  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

(1) Serve as the coordinator for Sunday School ministries

(2)  Serve as the primary ministry agent for Sunday morning Children’s Church

(3) Coordinate with and support other children’s ministry workers and special events coordinators (i.e. Quizzing Director, Pre-K Director, VBS Director, teachers, etc.)

(4) Recruit and train workers as needed

(5) Ensure that all necessary documentation (medical release forms, permission slips, registrations, etc.) for children’s ministry have been collected and filed securely

(6) Create, maintain, and distribute a working ministry calendar

(7) Possess a clear knowledge of and work within the confines of the ministry budget (s)

(8) Attend weekly staff meetings and other meetings as called by the Lead pastor

(9) Connect not only with children, but also their families, in order to win whole families for Jesus

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a clear  call to ministry and a deep love for children and families.  A growing relationship with the Lord should be evident, and alignment with the doctrines and polity of the Church of the Nazarene must be clearly articulated. Additionally, the candidate should possess strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills and must be able to work collaboratively and cooperatively with other pastors, leaders, and volunteers.

While formal theological education and/or denominational certification is not required, preference will be given to candidates with experience in this ministry area.  It is expected that the Children’s Ministry Director, as well as her/his family, will become active, committed, and tithing members of East Valley Church of the Nazarene.
