NextGen Pastor

Reports to Lead Pastor

Role: Castle Hills Church of the Nazarene is an intergenerational disciple-making church family that includes and values children and youth. The NextGen pastor co-labors with the church in giving shape to this culture. The NextGen pastor partners with parents and guardians in empowering and encouraging them as disciple-makers with their children and youth.

Full-time, salaried; possible arrangement for Part-time if preferred by candidate.

40 hours per week +/- depending on schedule; a regular office schedule is expected.

$37,000 to $43,000 depending on experience. Salary can be allocated to Housing Allowance, medical plans, and/or retirement plans as requested.

 

• • Develop a vision for the next generation’s participation in an intergenerational church in collaboration with the lead pastor.

 

• • Play a central role in keeping that vision in front of the church.

 

• • Develop and oversee implementation of safety and accountability policies and practices to safeguard children and youth in the church.

 

• • Recruit, equip, and develop a team of facilitators for age-specific environments for those nursery-age through high school.

 

• • Facilitate training and vision-sharing for the NextGen facilitators’ team.

 

• • Choose or create curriculum with the lead pastor that enables children and youth to live and develop as followers of Jesus within the mission and rhythms of Castle Hills Church of the Nazarene.

 

• • Facilitate events that engage with and connect children, youth, and families with the life of the church—especially from Cynthia Mann school and our immediate neighborhood.

 

• • Encourage and assist children and youth to participate in the Summer Camps of the Intermountain District of the Church of the Nazarene.

 

• • Facilitate small groups within the semester calendar of Castle Hills Church to strengthen parents and guardians in their expectations, awareness, and skills in discipling and parenting their children.

 

• • Maintain reliable communication with the lead pastor and board about activities, events, and developments in aspects of the life of the church most relevant to children and youth.

 

• • Maintain reliable communication with parents and guardians about activities, events, and developments in the life of the church most relevant to their children and/or youth.

 

• • Participate in the preaching team—preaching two to six sermons each year depending on ability and the needs of the pastor and church.

 

• • Participate in budgeting discussions and manage youth related expenses.

 

• • Live a life that demonstrates a love of God and a commitment to prayer and study of the Bible.
