Youth Pastor — Job Description – Full-Time
Position Summary
The Youth Pastor provides spiritual leadership, teaching, and relational discipleship for middle and high school students. This role exists to help students know Jesus, grow in their faith, and build a lifelong foundation of discipleship. The Youth Pastor leads weekly gatherings, equips volunteers, partners with parents, and creates a safe, Christ‑centered environment where students can belong and be formed.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Weekly Teaching & Spiritual Formation
Prepare and deliver biblical, engaging weekly messages for students.
Teach in a way that is clear, relational, and discipleship‑oriented.
Develop a teaching plan that aligns with the church’s discipleship vision.
Lead small‑group discussions or coordinate leaders to facilitate them.
Create opportunities for students to practice spiritual disciplines.
2. Student Discipleship & Relationships
Build intentional relationships with students through presence, mentoring, and encouragement.
Provide pastoral care, prayer, and guidance for students and families.
Create a culture of belonging, authenticity, and spiritual growth.
Follow up with new students and help them get connected.
3. Volunteer Leadership
Recruit, train, and shepherd a team of youth ministry volunteers.
Provide clear expectations, resources, and ongoing development.
Ensure volunteers are equipped to lead small groups, events, and relational ministry.
Maintain a healthy, unified team culture.
4. Program & Event Leadership
Plan and lead weekly youth gatherings, retreats, camps, and outreach events.
Coordinate logistics, communication, and safety protocols.
Develop student leadership opportunities within the ministry.
Integrate youth ministry into the broader mission of the church.
5. Parent Partnership
Communicate regularly with parents about teaching topics, events, and needs.
Provide resources to help parents disciple their students at home.
Build trust and partnership with families.
6. Administration & Organization
Maintain calendars, ministry schedules, and event planning timelines.
Manage registration forms, permission slips, and student records in an organized and confidential manner.
Coordinate ministry communications, budgets, supply needs, and administrative follow-up.
Ensure ministry policies, safety procedures, and required documentation are kept current.
Help with other ministries administrative and organization responsibilities as needed.
Secondary Responsibilities
Participate in Sunday services, staff meetings, and churchwide events.
Assist with occasional pastoral duties (prayer, baptisms, etc.) as needed.
Support other ministries during major seasons (Easter, Christmas, etc.).
Qualifications
A growing relationship with Jesus and alignment with the church’s doctrine.
Strong teaching and communication skills with students.
Experience in youth ministry and volunteer leadership.
Relational, approachable, and able to connect with teens and parents.
Organized, dependable, and able to manage events and teams.
Ability to create safe, fun, and spiritually rich environments.
Ordained in the Church of the Nazarene, or willing to pursue ordination in the Church of the Nazarene.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $50,000–$60,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
