Worship Pastor

Position Summary

 

At Puyallup Nazarene Church, we believe worship is more than music or a Sunday moment. Worship is the gathered response of God’s people to the grace of God—forming us in the way of Jesus through celebration, lament, hope, and mission.

 

The Worship Pastor serves as a shepherd of the church’s worshiping life, helping cultivate meaningful spaces where people encounter God, grow as disciples, and participate in the story of God together. This role blends pastoral leadership, creative vision, organizational oversight, and technical leadership. We are seeking someone who understands worship not as performance to be consumed, but as participation in the life of God.

 

 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

Cultivate the Worshiping Life of the Church

 

• • • • Collaborate with Lead Pastors and staff to shape weekly worship gatherings that are Christ-centered, Spirit-led, and theologically grounded.
    • • Plan and lead worship through music, prayer, and pastoral presence, helping the congregation become active participants in worship.
    • • Coordinate worship planning, weekly service flow, and worship systems with intentionality and excellence.

Lead & shepherd Worship, Creative Arts, and Technology Teams

 

• • • • Recruit, mentor, disciple, and encourage musicians, vocalists, creatives, and technology volunteers as fellow ministers.
    • • Foster a culture of community, prayer, belonging, and spiritual growth within worship and tech ministries.
    • • Develop pathways for emerging leaders, including youth and young adults, to grow in worship, creative, and technical leadership.

 

Oversee Worship Technology & Creative Arts

 

• • • • Provide leadership for sound, lighting, presentation software, livestreaming, video systems, and worship technology.
    • • Coordinate worship support for Sundays, memorials, weddings, church gatherings, and special events.
    • • Lead creative planning for seasons such as Advent, Christmas, Lent, Holy Week, Easter, baptisms, and church-wide gatherings.
    • • Oversee platform design, visual environments, graphic design, media, and storytelling that support worship and church life.

 

Administration & Digital Ministry

 

• • • • Utilize Planning Center to coordinate volunteers, schedules, communication, and service planning.
    • • Help oversee worship technology systems, equipment maintenance, website updates, and digital ministry platforms that connect people to the life of the church.

 

 

 

Desired Qualifications

 

We are seeking someone who demonstrates:

 

• • • • A vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a clear sense of pastoral calling.
    • • 3-5 years of experience leading congregational worship.
    • • Ability to recruit, disciple, and lead volunteer teams.
    • • Experience with worship planning tools, livestreaming, sound, lighting, and media systems.
    • • Strong organizational and project management skills.
    • • A heart for intergenerational ministry and helping diverse voices find belonging in worship.
    • • A pastoral imagination that sees worship as spiritual formation—not simply production.
