Tallahassee First Church of the Nazarene
Lead Pastor Opportunity
Objective
Located in North Florida, Tallahassee First Church of the Nazarene is seeking candidates for a full-time Lead Pastor to provide spiritual, relational, and organizational leadership.
This pastor will build upon a healthy foundation, working alongside a committed church board and a full-time associate pastor (currently serving as Children’s Pastor), to guide the church into a new season of mission, generosity, and growth.
Understanding the Context
Tallahassee is a vibrant city of approximately 200,000 residents, including nearly 70,000 university students. It offers a beautiful and unique setting for both ministry and life.
Known for its iconic canopy roads shaded by ancient live oaks, Tallahassee provides a serene and reflective environment. The city is rich with parks and natural spaces, creating opportunities for outdoor fellowship, family life, and community engagement. Additionally, Tallahassee is just a short drive from some of the most pristine beaches along Florida’s Gulf Coast.
The Church
Tallahassee First Church of the Nazarene began in 1945 with 24 charter members and first met in homes under the leadership of Rev. Robert Spear. In 1947, the church moved to its first building on Miccosukee Road, and in 1983 relocated to its current campus at 1983 Mahan Road.
Today, the church has a membership of approximately 300, with average Sunday morning attendance around 110.
Tallahassee First is a strong, faith-filled community that is consistently faithful in its missional and district commitments. The church has:
- A vibrant and growing children’s ministry, including active participation in worship through children’s praise teams and band.
- Strong engagement in Kid’s church camp and Bible quizzing
A youth ministry in a season of rebuilding, supported by committed leaders and families.
The congregation reflects a healthy, Spirit-led environment where:
- Worship is joyful and authentic.
- Small groups foster meaningful relationships.
- Members actively serve both locally and beyond.
Tallahassee First values biblical teaching, intergenerational discipleship, and a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic vision. The church is known for being welcoming and relational, with a desire to reach families, students, and professionals in the community.
Joining this church means stepping into a supportive leadership culture that is eager to partner in advancing the mission of the Gospel.

- Confident in leading evangelism and outreach, while maintaining strong pastoral care.
