Waynesville Church of the Nazarene

Waynesville Church of the Nazarene – Pastoral Profile

OBJECTIVE

Waynesville Church of the Nazarene is seeking a dynamic, Spirit‑led pastor to shepherd our congregation into its next season of ministry. We desire a visionary leader who values prayer, teaches sound theology, practices wise financial stewardship, and embraces every generation as an essential part of our church family.

CHURCH DESCRIPTION

Waynesville Church of the Nazarene is preparing to celebrate 50 years of faithful ministry in the community. Over the past decade, the church has averaged as high as 91 in attendance and continues to demonstrate resilience, hospitality, and a heart for discipleship.

COMMUNITY CONTEXT

The church is located in a community of approximately 5,000 residents, with 3,000 people living within a three‑mile radius of the church. Additionally, Fort Leonard Wood—just 15 miles away—brings a population of roughly 15,000 to the region.

The area is home to 33 churches, creating a diverse faith landscape and offering significant opportunities for outreach, partnership, and growth. Waynesville Church of the Nazarene is positioned to make a meaningful impact with the right pastoral leader who can cast vision, equip believers, and engage the community.

OBSTACLES & OPPORTUNITIES

The blessings of the community context also present unique challenges:

Military Mobility:
As a military community, the church is enriched by strong leaders and committed families, yet frequent transitions require a pastor who can quickly connect with newcomers, integrate them into ministry, and continually train and equip emerging leaders.
Faithful History & Steady Growth:
God has consistently demonstrated His faithfulness. New families often arrive just as others are transferred, and in recent years the church has experienced steady growth rather than simple replacement.
Facilities & Future Vision:
The good news is that the church has no debt, yet, like many 50‑year‑old churches, the facility requires ongoing care. The congregation also owns nine acres of property and carries a long‑term dream of relocating when the time is right.

CURRENT STAFFING

The church is currently served by pulpit‑supply pastors, with strong oversight provided by an excellent church board. A custodian maintains the facility, and while there is no pastoral staff currently, the congregation hopes to develop a ministry team as the church continues to grow.
