Living Faith Church of the Nazarene
Position Summary
The Children’s Ministry Leader provides vision, leadership, and pastoral care for all ministries serving children from pre-K through 6th grade. This role nurtures children in Christlike discipleship and partners with families. It equips volunteers to create a safe, welcoming, and spiritually formative environment consistent with the theology and mission of the Church of the Nazarene. This is a part-time position that can lead to a full-time position.
Core Responsibilities
1. Spiritual Leadership & Discipleship
Develop age-appropriate discipleship pathways that help children know, love, and follow Jesus.
Teach biblical truth in creative, engaging, and culturally relevant ways.
Model Christlike character and holiness in alignment with Nazarene doctrine.
Lead children in worship, prayer, and spiritual practices that cultivate lifelong faith.
2. Ministry Oversight & Program Development
Plan and oversee weekly children’s programming (Sunday School, Children’s Church, midweek ministries).
Coordinate special events such as VBS, seasonal programs, outreach events, and family discipleship gatherings.
Ensure all curriculum aligns with Wesleyan-Holiness theology and the mission of the church.
Create a welcoming environment where every child feels safe, valued, and known.
3. Volunteer Recruitment & Training
Recruit, train, and support a team of volunteers who serve with joy, excellence, and spiritual maturity.
Provide ongoing coaching, encouragement, and resources to help volunteers thrive.
Schedule volunteers and ensure adequate staffing for all children’s ministry activities.
4. Family Partnership
Build strong relationships with parents and caregivers, equipping them as primary disciplers of their children.
Communicate regularly with families about upcoming events, curriculum themes, and spiritual growth opportunities.
Offer pastoral support to families navigating spiritual, emotional, or practical challenges.
5. Safety & Administration
Maintain compliance with Nazarene Safe (or equivalent) child protection policies.
Oversee check-in/check-out systems, background checks, and safety protocols.
Manage ministry budget, supplies, and classroom environments.
Keep accurate attendance records and ministry data.
Qualifications
Spiritual & Personal
A growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a lifestyle consistent with the Church of the Nazarene’s Articles of Faith.
A calling and passion for children’s discipleship and family ministry.
A heart for relational ministry, hospitality, and creating a sense of belonging.
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Professional & Educational
Experience in children’s ministry, education, or related fields preferred (will train the right candidate).
Ability to teach, lead teams, and manage multiple programs.
Familiarity with Wesleyan-Holiness theology and Nazarene polity (or willingness to learn).
Reporting Structure
Reports to: Lead Pastor
Supervises: Children’s Ministry volunteers and team leaders
Collaborates with: Discipleship Ministries, Outreach Teams, and church staff

Compensation
Housing includes utilities and Wi-Fi.
Weekly pay will be discussed.
Ministry van will be provided with a gas allowance.
