Pastor of Youth and their Families

Findlay First Church of the Nazarene is a thriving church of 500 people in a loving and growing community. We have a Chinese Church, minister to the Haitian population, and have many young and multi-generational families who call this church their home. Our staff team consists of passionate people who love to serve others. We are looking for someone to join our team that will help our maturing congregation grow closer to Christ and multiply the Kingdom of God.

The church was started in 1939 and has had a rich history. We have been at our current location since 1981 which is located by Highway I-75 on the West side of Findlay, Ohio. We are a part of the Northwestern Ohio District, one of five districts in Ohio.

This position will be part of a larger staff that works together to minister to the whole family. Regular staff meetings take place to review and monitor the vision and direction of the church. Our staff team strives to work in and through each other as we minister to every generation.

Qualifications

  • To demonstrate the ability to lead an effective Youth Ministry through formal education and/or prior experience.
  • Agree with the doctrine statement and be a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

Pastoral Care

  • Take initiative in positive, loving interaction with youth and their families.
  • Hospital visits for youth and their families or someone connected to your ministry.
  • Be a regular presence in the schools, establishing connections with the administration and youth.
  • Follow-up on families with youth, connecting them to a community group.

Responsibility

  • Minister to families with youth grade seven through twelfth grade.
  • Lead the transition from youth ministries to College and Career Ministry.
  • Develop and equip a Youth Ministry Leadership Team with directors and coordinators. Have continual recruiting and training of new ministers as needed.
  • Continually develop and maintain ways to promote inter-generational relationships between the youth and the rest of the community at Findlay First.
  • Oversee some aspects of the Morning Worship service through communication and assimilation for the purpose of visibility.

Objectives of Findlay First Youth Ministries

  • Seek God for the vision and direction of the Youth Ministries and dream BIG!
  • Oversee a ministry that leads youth to a personal relationship with Jesus and disciples them toward maturity in Christ.
  • Oversee the Administration of the Youth Ministries Seventh grade through High School. Recruit and equip leaders so that the position is truly one of oversight.
    • Discipleship Classes (Sunday School)
    • Sunday Youth Ministry Programs.
    • Mid-week program for youth.
  • Resource families of youth so they can effectively minister in their families and community.
  • Evaluate the objectives and effectiveness of your ministry, implementing improvements and changes wherever possible.
  • When possible, divide Junior High and Senior High for age level programming.
  • Conduct one major community outreach per year.
  • Ensure the discipleship and spiritual formation of youth through choosing curriculum and programs that promote growth.
  • Develop and oversee the Youth Ministry Budget in conjunction with your purpose.
  • Provide up-to-date information for publications, social media, and the website.
  • Continually develop and maintain ways to promote inter-generational relationships between the youth and the rest of the community at Findlay First.
  • Participate in District and General Church of the Nazarene events that enhance program objectives.
  • Oversee the transition from High School to College and Career. Ensure that the College and Career are continually ministered to, engaged, and empowered to serve.
