Pastor of Discipleship & Worship

Findlay First Church of the Nazarene is a thriving congregation of approximately 500 people in a loving and growing community. Our church includes a Chinese congregation, ministry to the Haitian community, and many young and multigenerational families who call Findlay First home. We are seeking a pastor who will join a passionate staff team, help our congregation grow closer to Christ, and multiply leaders for the Kingdom of God.

The church was started in 1939 and has had a rich history. We have been at our current location since 1981 which is located by Highway I-75 on the West side of Findlay, Ohio. We are a part of the Northwestern Ohio District, one of five districts in Ohio.

Position Overview: The Pastor of Discipleship and Worship will design and lead clear pathways that help people take meaningful next steps in their walk with Christ while also providing thoughtful leadership for worship ministry. This role provides direction for Sunday morning worship, discipleship classes, Life Groups, one-on-one discipleship, men’s and women’s ministries, worship team development, and the formation of leaders who can guide and nurture others in faith.

Discipleship Ministry Areas:

  • Collaborate with the ministerial team to establish vision, goals, and benchmarks for discipleship ministry.
  • Develop FFCN’s small group ministry as a healthy, accessible environment for spiritual growth and community.
  • Recruit, train, and empower leaders who can disciple others and multiply ministry impact.
  • Evaluate and recommend curriculum that supports the church’s discipleship pathway and theological commitments.
  • Equip others to make disciples who grow in faith and serve their sphere of influence.
  • Create a clear next-steps strategy that helps attendees connect with God, with others, and be available to see ministry opportunities.
  • Build ministry teams with qualified leaders so responsibilities are shared and strong relationships of spiritual growth are formed.
  • Equip the connection team to welcome people well and guide them into appropriate next steps.

Worship Ministry Areas:

  • Plan and lead weekly worship services that are cohesive, prayerful, and aligned with sermon themes.
  • Recruit, audition, mentor, and train vocalists, instrumentalists, and audio/visual team members.
  • Organize and conduct rehearsals that encourage preparation, unity, and musical excellence.
  • Manage the worship ministry budget, equipment, and scheduling tools with care and accountability.

  • A clear discipleship pathway helps people identify and take their next step with Christ.
  • Life Groups and discipleship classes are growing in participation, health, and leadership depth.
  • Worship services are spirit-filled and engaging.
  • The church community becomes increasingly connected, spiritually mature, and engaged in ministry.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Bachelor’s degree in theology, church ministries, or a related field.
  • Ordained Elder or District Licensed minister in the Church of the Nazarene or Wesleyan Tradition.
  • Strong theological foundation and understanding of discipleship principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a collaborative ministry team.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and administrative skills.
  • Passion for spiritual growth and a desire to see others mature in faith.
