This is a full-time Senior/ Lead pastoral position.
Biblical and Spiritual Characteristics of a Senior Pastor
- We seek a Senior Pastor who is fully committed to the Word of God, who faithfully proclaims the gospel of Jesus Christ and leads people into a saving relationship with Him.
- This pastor will be a Spirit-filled leader, relying on the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit rather than human wisdom or popularity. Their ministry will be marked by prayer, humility, spiritual discernment, and a deep dependence on God. Their preaching will be grounded in Scripture and delivered with spiritual authority.
- We desire a pastor who is kind, compassionate, and deeply committed to shepherding God’s people. They will know and care for the congregation, minister to the sick and hurting, and walk faithfully with people through both joy and hardship. Their love for Christ will be clearly reflected in their love for others.
- This pastor will be bold in evangelism, unashamed to proclaim the gospel and call people to repentance and new life in Christ.
- They will encourage the church to be outward-focused and committed to reaching the lost, both in the community and beyond.
- We seek a leader whose faith is genuine and evident, not superficial. Their personal walk with God will be consistent with their public ministry, marked by integrity, humility, and obedience to Scripture
- Above all, this Senior Pastor will be a faithful shepherd, called by God, devoted to Christ, filled with the Spirit, and committed to leading God’s people in truth, love, and spiritual maturity.
Core Duties of the Pastor (Manual, Church of the Nazarene, 2023)
124, 124.1 The pastor will pray.
124.2 The pastor will preach the Word of God.
124.3 The pastor will equip believers for the work of the ministry.
124.4 The pastor will administer the sacraments: the Lord’s Supper and baptism. The pastor should administer the Lord’s Supper at least
once every three months. Pastors are encouraged to move toward
a more frequent celebration of this means of grace.
124.5 The pastor will care for the people by visiting them, especially the sick and needy.
124.6 The pastor will comfort those who mourn.
124.7 The pastor will reprimand, correct, and encourage, with great
patience and careful instruction.
124.8 The pastor will work for the conversion of sinners, the entire sanctification of believers, and the strengthening of God’s people in
holiness.
124.9 The pastor will perform wedding ceremonies. He or she will
demonstrate the sacredness of Christian marriage.
124.10 The pastor will encourage those who sense a call to Christian
ministry. He or she will mentor them and guide them toward the
process of ministerial preparation.
124.11 The pastor will fulfill the expectations of God and the Church by
participating in a program of learning.
124.12 The pastor will continually nurture his or her own call to ministry. He or she should maintain personal devotions that enrich the soul. If married, he or she should guard the integrity and vitality of the marriage.
