Youth Pastor Job Description—January 8, 2025

Mt Olive is seeking a Youth Pastor who will provide leadership and management to students 6th grade through 12th grade, and to the youth ministry team, providing them with the best
opportunity to become fully mature followers of Christ.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Teach, guide, and direct children, from middle school through high school, about the most
important thing in their lives – the love of Jesus
• Develop and implement a holistic family discipleship strategy for these students and parents/
guardians
• Recruit, train and multiply staff and volunteer leaders
• Work with Mt Olive team to formulate and oversee the Youth Ministry strategy and budget
• Provide discipleship resources for youth ministries
• Provide pastoral care, including hospital visits, meetings and other ministry opportunities
• Intentionally cultivate a deeper personal faith and seeking opportunities for soul care

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Reach out to unchurched youth in the community, engage them with the gospel, and involve
them in the work of the church
• Participate in general pastoral duties as needed (weddings, funerals, counseling, etc.)
• Establish a long-term vision for how the church engages youth
• Lead efforts to minister to the parenting needs of the church body
• Serve on the preaching team for the adult worship services on a regular basis
• Regularly report to the Church Board about ministry-related updates
• Oversee all youth ministry activities the church participates in
• Regularly lead the youth in short-term missions experiences
• Work with other church leaders to find ministry opportunities for youth in the broader church
family
• Review all curriculum used by the church’s youth ministry and ensure it is consistent with the
Nazarene church’s core values and beliefs
• Participate in all staff meetings and retreats

REQUIREMENTS
• A Nazarene license (local or district)
• Pursuing or fulfilled educational requirements (Degree in Youth Ministry is a huge bonus)
• Godly character and a Christ-Centered life
• A clear calling to work with students and their families
• An understanding of relational ministry
• Creativity and innovative thinking about ministering to the students and their families
• Understanding and willingness to serve within the framework of the Church of the Nazarene
• Flexible and organized with a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence

The Youth Pastor will be teachable and have a strong commitment to self and staff development.

Viable candidates must give evidence of the ability to lead and appropriately hold accountable individuals, groups and teams that produce measurable results against the predetermined goals and objectives.

A participative, collaborative, team-oriented culture is the
desire of the church, and this leader must be characterized by these same values.

Youth Pastor Salary Package approved:
• Total: $45,000
Plus:
• Mileage Reimbursement based on IRS rates (recorded ministry miles
reported monthly)
• All ministry resources and supplies covered in church operating budget
• An all paid annual membership to LifeQuest Fitness
• One week paid vacation after first six months
• Two weeks paid vacation after completion of one year.
• Vacation time will not accrue over the tenure of the pastor.
