Worship Pastor

Emmanuel Wesleyan Church located in beautiful Roanoke, VA, is looking for a full-time assistant pastor with a primary focus on worship. Emmanuel is a church dedicated to being a multigenerational church with a mission of, “Reaching every generation with the life changing touch of Jesus Christ and developing lifelong disciples by nurturing them into His Body, the Church.”

We are not looking for a worship leader or director; we are looking for a worship pastor. A man/woman who has the heart of a shepherd and is willing to deal with the messiness of people’s lives.

 

Title: Worship Pastor

Reports To: Senior Pastor

Position Status: Full-time

Purpose: The Worship Pastor is responsible for the worship ministries of the church.

 

Requirements

·       Growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

·       Support the doctrine of The Wesleyan Church.

·       Member of The Wesleyan Church.

·       Support the mission and vision of Emmanuel Wesleyan Church.

·       Understand theology and its importance in worship.

·       Strong leadership and administrative skills.

·       Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and appropriately.

·       Teachable spirit.

·       Heart of a servant.

Music/Worship Responsibilities

·       Lead worship in all services: Sunday morning and any special services (revival, mission’s conference, etc.).

·       Lead and understand the importance of blended worship.

·       Inspire and pull people into worship.

·       Choose and organize music weekly.

·       Lead band rehearsals weekly and additionally as needed.

·       Play a lead instrument (piano or guitar)

·       Organize special music: solos, duets, trios, ensemble, etc.

·       Recruit vocalists and band members to increase overall team.

Production Responsibilities

·       Familiarity with sound, media, lights, etc.

·       Maintain all sound/video equipment and evaluate/research when new equipment is needed.

·       Oversee and give leadership to production team (sound, multimedia, online, etc.).

·       Put together order of worship for services.

·       Recruit and develop additional volunteers in all areas.

·       Complete sermon slides for each service.

·       Work with pastoral staff to create and produce a weekly podcast.

Shepherding Responsibilities

·       Build strong relationships with those in the worship ministries.

·       Make home/hospital visits to those in the worship ministries.

·       Spiritually invest in the worship ministries team.

Other Responsibilities

·       Attend staff meetings.

·       Lead a small group if needed.

·       Assist with quarterly outreach activities if needed.

·       Oversee one other area of ministry depending on giftings. This could be student ministries, first impression/hospitality, connection and community, etc.
