Full-time Position: 40 hrs/wk
Annual Compensation: $42,500 ($37,500 in Salary/Housing + $5,000 in Benefits) + Possible Bonus
Job Summary
The Children’s Pastor will lead our church and our team of volunteers in the direction of God for the sake of our children and their families. He or she will work with our staff, our members, and our neighbors to grow our ministries to children and their families. He or she will do this, in part, by managing our existing programs on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights and working with our Lead Pastor to establish new ministries to students and their families.
Skills and Qualifications
+ Ability to share the Gospel with and educate children using age-appropriate methods.
+ Proven ability to lead a team and/or project management experience.
+ Experience ministering to (or serving) children.
+ Excellent communication skills.
+ Superior interpersonal skills; ability to work well with others.
+ Computer competency and/or ability to learn quickly in Google, Microsoft Office, Community Church Builder, Planning Center, etc.
+ Strong organizational and time management skills.
+ Creativity; ability to find solutions to problems and generate attractive programming.
+ Adaptivity; ability to forecast and plan for growth.
+ Relevant training (e.g., in theology, in ministry, in childhood education, in abuse prevention, in communications, etc.)
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
+ Oversee and organize our children’s ministries at Valleyview Church of the Nazarene.
+ Working with the rest of our staff, provide pastoral care for children and their families.
+ Develop, implement, and enforce policies that encourage best practices for protecting, supporting, and challenging our children to grow in faith, hope, and love.
+ Establish, utilize, and play leading role in training processes for children’s workers.
+ Work closely with our Lead Pastor and the leaders of our children’s ministries to measure the effectiveness of our ministry efforts and make adjustments where appropriate.
+ Build and lead teams of volunteers to execute our plans for children’s ministries.
+ Clearly and consistently communicate with staff, volunteers, and parents.
+ Grow as a caregiver in relation to our parents and empower them to grow as caregivers, too.
+ Oversee all aspects of department administration (e.g., budget forecasting, purchasing, accounting for expenses).
