Waynesburg Church of the Nazarene

 

Waynesburg Church of the Nazarene has been an active part of the Waynesburg community for over 90 years, becoming well-known throughout Greene County. Our desire is to continue to use the resources that God has entrusted to us to bless and transform our community by inviting others to follow Jesus and become a part of our faith community, growing closer to Christ, and serving our community and the world.

 

Purpose/Role/Details

 

The purpose is to do ministry together with staff and lay volunteers that will lead our church to be a transforming entity in Greene County through our core values of: inviting, growing, and serving.

 

The role of the Worship Pastor is to oversee all aspects of worship and media. The Worship Pastor serves as a member of the staff team and is directly accountable to the Lead Pastor. The successful candidate will oversee other ministry areas related to their gifts, abilities, interests, and the needs of the church.

Qualifications/Values

·      Models a vibrant, growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

·      Agrees with and supports the doctrine and policies of the Church of the Nazarene.

·      Is ordained or pursuing ordination in the Church of the Nazarene.

·      Possesses

o   History of volunteer recruitment, retention, training, and management

o   Ability to pass PA State Criminal Clearance, PA Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Criminal Clearance

o   Ability to contribute in a positive way to larger conversations that take place in staff meetings

·      Demonstrates

o   Ability to execute ministry plans

o   Approachability, integrity, adaptability, and maturity

o   Experience working with (or the ability to learn) Multitracks, ProPresenter, Canva, Church Planning Center, Slack, Video Streaming software, and Mac

o   Ability to treat sensitive information that may be discussed in staff meetings as confidential.

·      Approaches life and ministry with Christ-like integrity.

·      Demonstrated musical proficiency by:

o   Ability to play at least one instrument

o   Ability to read sheet music and chords charts

Responsibilities

·      Be a vital part of the ministry team at Waynesburg Nazarene Church.

·      Oversee Sunday Morning Worship Service(s) by:

o   Running “point” on the formation of weekly community worship services, guiding our church family into a time of: moving and meaningful praise, and expectant attention and response to the Word of God

o   Guiding our team of vocalists and instrumentalists to be more than the “sum of our parts”

o   Providing leadership for the worship team, including recruitment, training, preparation for weekly services, and the cultivation of what it means to be a “lead worshipper”

o   Leading those involved in worship ministry with a shepherd’s heart

o   Being responsible for music selection and preparation of music to be used by the worship team

o   Working with the Lead Pastor to plan the worship service(s) which will engage congregants of all ages and backgrounds with an understanding of the seasons of the church calendar

o   Working with the rest of the staff team to plan and execute special worship services

o   Overseeing maintenance and purchase of A/V materials, supplies, and equipment

o   Working with other ministry areas in developing music ministry

·      Communicate effectively with volunteers and the rest of the staff team.

·      Manage resources by:

o   Ensuring that music and sound equipment is cared for and replaced as necessary

o   Developing, submitting, and providing oversight for the worship budget

·      Build bridges and develop relationships in our community, and further the connection between Waynesburg Nazarene and Greene County by:

o   Being present in the community

o   Engaging with guests and visitors to invite and encourage them to become a part of our church family

·      Coordinate mutually agreed-upon office hours with the Lead Pastor and Office Manager.  This would include participation in regular staff meetings and consistent one-on-one meetings with the Lead Pastor.

·      There may be other responsibilities added to this job description, which would be mutually agreed upon by the Worship Pastor and Lead Pastor.
