Pastor to Youth and Families
Position Summary
The Youth Pastor will lead a Christ-centered ministry that disciples students (grades 6–12), builds bridges between diverse backgrounds, and cultivates a culture of belonging and mission. This role combines theological depth, pastoral presence, and entrepreneurial creativity to connect to students both inside and outside the church, empowering them to grow in faith, and serve others.
Key Responsibilities
1. Discipleship & Teaching
Teach and preach the Word of God in ways that are biblically sound, engaging, and relevant to students from diverse contexts.
Provide discipleship opportunities through small groups, mentoring, retreats, and service projects.
Cast vision for students to live into the kingdom of God in the world.
Works with student ministry team and pastoral team to create and carry out wholistic, intergenerational discipleship plans through age-level transitions.
2. Building Bridges & Culture
Create a culture of awareness where every student feels seen, welcomed, and valued—while understanding various backgrounds, resources or traumas.
Connect students and adults across generations, fostering shared experiences that unify the church family.
Innovate ways to “level the playing field” so that finances or circumstances don’t keep students from participating in ministry activities.
Serve on the Community Partner Teams
3. Leadership & Volunteer Development
Recruit, equip, and empower adult leaders and student leaders to invest in youth ministry.
Integrate volunteers into meaningful roles, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment.
Empower students to lead and serve within the church and community.
Develop a team to show up in students’ lives (attending games, concerts, events) to build authentic relationships.
Build boundaries and practices that foster a healthy, sustainable ministry culture.
4. Pastoral Care & Presence
Care for students with relational warmth and spiritual guidance.
Be a trusted resource for parents, offering confidence and support in raising their teens in faith.
Model Christlike living and provide pastoral care during times of need.
5. Administration & Collaboration
Plan, budget, and execute youth ministry events (camps, retreats, service opportunities, outreach) with excellence.
Collaborate with pastoral staff to align youth ministry with missional practices.
Communicate consistently with students, parents, leaders, and the congregation.
Work with community partners who share common goals
Qualifications
A personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a clear calling to youth ministry.
Strong theological grounding with the ability to communicate biblical truth clearly and relevantly.
Proven experience in youth ministry with demonstrated maturity and wisdom.
Creative, visionary, and able to galvanize students, parents, and leaders toward a common mission.
Confidence in leadership while remaining approachable, flexible, and collaborative.
Skilled in connecting with diverse groups of students and families.
Bachelor’s degree in ministry, theology, or related field preferred (seminary a plus).
